Different brand DVR & Cameras

My knowledge of CCTV is somewhat limited.

Can you run a Samsung IP camera on a non-Samsung DVR?

The cameras came with a Samsung (POS) DVR. It has been garbage. It is a clunky interface and performs its assigned tasks intermittently at best. The camera use a BNC connector and a H.264 compression.

Has anyone else had trouble with Samsung DVRs? These came in a bundle. Cheap, but I trusted the brand name. Big mistake.

TY. Your guidance is appreciated!

If both the camera and NVR supports ONVIF, it shouldn't be any problem at all.

If one or both does not support ONVIF, there's still a chance.

Most IP cameras support RTSP streaming.

Most NVRs support RTSP streaming.

There might be a bit of settings to play with to get it working tho.

Do you have IP cameras ....... If your dvr has BNC then it's either analog or HD analog

Can you give model of dvr and cams.

Hi. You have the AHD analog system not IP.

So if you are looking at only changing the recorder you need to look for a dvr that supports AHD cameras

Just google AHD dvr.

And like many have learned Samsung are far from a rated CCTV company.

OK. Thank you very much!

Sucks given how much work it has been to install these things. At least IF we change them out. We have already run the conduit and such. Samsung had lost their good name with me between this and another issue.

If we replace them. What would you suggest? This is on a rather limited budget. I'd be shocked if they'd go for another $650. That's what we paid for the 2 systems we have now.

It needs to be all weather. Live streaming to phones. Day/Night vision. At least 1080p. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
