reformated and now I can't view live video feed for cameras

I really am new to survaillance in general and would like to get help connecting my cameras so I can view live video only on my pc screen for 16 cameras , the cameras connected originally with bnc , but I got an adaper that converts the bnc connection to vga and I have installed in my computer a novus NVB-100/8A capture card with software compression and dont know what software to use . any help would be great thank you . I am not sure if I am even on the right track but maybe some one can help
