NFC (Near Field Communications) for Access control

Recommended Posts

Doing some research on this and it seems it will only work on the Android platform and not the IPhone because Apple has not opened it up and only allows it to work with Apple Pay.

Has anyone else came up with the same conclusion?

HID makes readers that have both NFC/BLE in them. They can be combined with other technologies such as prox. We use the mobile readers at our office and love them. Android users take advantage of NFC when tapping their phone to the readers. iOS users default to BLE since NFC is not yet available to developers and is reserved for Apple pay. We have also issued SEOS credentials as backups in case someone's phone dies. We use a software system called Sequr to manage everything. Let me know if I can answer any other questions about our experience using mobile access and NFC/BLE.
