AVTECH KPD 674 Email issues driving me mad

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Ive been working on setting up the DVR to email me for over 2 days now and im at my wits end, I feel like ripping it out and jumping up and down on the thing.

I need to get it to email me when it detects motion etc but it constantly shows as 'failed' in the system log. I have tried it with different SMTP servers and I still cannot get it to email me. I want to go back to basics and work it out but 'I cant see the wood for the trees' anymore and really need some help / input from you guys who can do this with your eyes shut...

Try tu use these settings, i tried to set yahoo and hotmail with avtech dvrs but they are not working, so i suggest to use a GMAIL account.

SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com

Port: 465

SSL encryption:Yes

Verify Password:yes

Make sure the DVR is connected to internet and you can playback the videos in the Hard disk.

Waiting for your comments

In this case, the problem maybe is in your router. Probably it blocks the email. If you have the opportunity, should have to try the dvr with a different internet connection.

What about the old dvr? did you throw away? The firmware was right (unless your dvr is a B version) but probably you didn't do the upgrade correctly.

Maybe it was still possible to fix it.

I managed to get email sent out correctly in the end, it was a LAN issue happy

I still have the AVtech DVR but its dead, I am unable to view it as I connect it to a display and when it boots up I see the h.264 screen, then it shows black and purple bars accross the screen and then reboots. How would I be able to get a new firmware into it ?

Hi Biffa, happy your dvr is working now

can you check on the back of the dvr, there should be a lable with the model:

Check if the model is:

KPD674Z

KPD674ZA

KPD674ZB

KPD674ZL

I will send you instructions to manual reset the DVR.

If you have some free time, you can try it.

Hi

Yes I would really like to get it fixed, there is a silver label on the back with KPD674ZA on it

and I have attached a photo of the motherboard from inside the dvr which also has a label

on it showing KPD674A

This would be great if we could get it fixed

Thanks for your help so far Leo

Hi Leo

I am trying what you have sent to me and I still have the same problem.

I did see in the top left of the H.264 screen some words saying

reset default

complete rebooting system...

but it beeps about 10 times and then displays the purple and black bars,

I have attached images of it so you can see what I mean
