PIR motion sensor to DVR hook up

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! This is my first post in this forum, so I hope I put this in the right place!

I am in the process of integrating independent PIR motion sensors into my system. This is to overcome all the false alarms that I am getting due to ambient lighting changes when using motion detection on the cameras.

My question is on the hook up to the DVR side for the data wiring (I am all set with the power side for these).

The DVR has 8 alarm ports, also with 2 ground, 1 NO and 1 com ports.

The sensor (which is N/C) has N/C and C wire hubs.

The question is that while I am confident that the N/C wire will go into one of the alarm ports, I am not sure where the C wire should go. I am thinking probably to a ground port (on the DVR), but I am not 100% sure.

The DVR does have software alarm options/settings for N/C and N/O, so I will set that to N/C.

I appreciate any input on this question!

Thanks,

Dave
