Qvis ATL400 DVR HDD Problems.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a Qvis ATL400 DVR and am experiencing a problem with the HDD. The hard drive seems to making noises such as clicking and stuttering. I have a feeling the hdd is failing even though the system reports the HDD status as normal.

Now my question is whether replacing the HDD will wipe the CCTV os, or is that stored on a separate drive. Further would it be as simple as popping in a new HDD and formatting it to the correct format.

Hi. Yes you can just change hard drive out with no loss of OS

Replace with new HD and it will format on first reboot

Thank you, thats good to hear. Out of curiosity where is the os stored, I opened up the dvr and could on see one HDD, so unless the os is stored on the motherboard itself I'm not sure where else it would be. Further I'm thinking of installing WD Red HDD as these are meant to be used 24/7 would that be compatible with this DVR?

Hi it's embedded software in board

Hard drive I would replace for what is all ready in

It's all sales talk about hard drives can now run 24-7 ..... Even 20 years ago DVRs were running 24-7
