searching for DVR which supports 20 cameras...

Recommended Posts

Hi

Recently we installed the following camera system with 16 camera although originally the system came with only 10 cameras. It is an okay system without any HD cameras.

Samsung SDS-P5102: http://www.samsungsv.com/Product/Detail/90/Samsung-SDS-P5102-16-Channel-DVR-Security-System

Recently we have discovered that 16 cameras aren't enough and there should be at least 20 cameras to cover all the important areas. Further, we also need to have few Full HD cameras installed.

i: So far I have not been able to find any DVR system which can accommodate more than 16 cameras. Could you please let me know of any DVR system which can at least support 20 cameras and at least four of those cameras should be Full HD?

ii: One solution which comes to my mind is using two separate DVRs but it will require a bigger TV screen or two separate TV sets. Do you think that it's a good solution?

iii: I even have found a DVR system, which in my humble opinion, is a good one: http://www.samsung.com/us/security-and-monitoring/security-systems/SDH-P5081. Do you think that it's a good system?

(Note: I will prefer to use a Samsung system because I already know that how to hook it up and also set it up to remotely view the cameras on computer and phone. Also, I'm a newbie in this domain.) Thank you.

You can go for a hybrid system. Hikvision and Dahua both have 16ch analog + 16ch IP systems, and I am sure there must be more. Hikvision DS-7616HI-ST comes to mind.

You could also look for a 32ch HDTVI unit, or 32ch HDCVI universal (you would need to make sure it supports analog), but I do not know if there are any.

Thank you. I'm still looking at it. Will let you know if I need your help. Once again, thanks.
