DVR; low space for footage

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm new here so probably this is noobish question, but hopefully your answers will help me out.

Also not sure if i will provide you with all information that you need and probably my terminology is not good when it comes to CCTV, so feel free to request more information if needed.

Equipment that I'm using:

DVR - 4 channel low budged Dahua, 500 GB HDD

4 analogue cameras with IC (nightvision) or however it is called

The issue:

There is enough space only for last 7 days of footage approx.

Due to some kind of law in my country I should keep footage for last 30 days.

I assume that there is something that I can change in settings regarding video quality etc.

Can you please advise what should I change exactly and what actions I should take?

I have attached a snip of GUI for settings:

Regards and thanks in advance

Hi. What country are you in that states 30 days recording .... are you a home or business?

You are only D1 so if your looking at lowering recorder settings to allow more hard drive space then you recordings will be useless

Look at putting bigger hard drives

Hi,

I'm in Serbia and this is for business.

I have this DVR for like 5-6 years now and never had to rewind more than 2-3 days of footage, but police asked for some footage that is like 16 days old and then I realized that it is only keeping last days.

So, I believe than that 2TB HDD will do the trick.

Just wanted to check is there anything in settings that can be changed, but obviously not, and I believe that anything lower that current quality would be almost pointless.

Thanks for quick reply.
