Problems with PTZ

Recommended Posts

Today I installed a GV-VS11 1 channel video server. I'm using it to view and control a Pelco Spectra III SE PTZ. The video works perfectly, however I worked for 4 hours today trying to get the PTZ control to work. I'm using the RS-485 + and - from the video server going to the RX + and - on the PTZ. I've tried the 2400 and 9600 baud rates as well as the Pelco D and P protocols. I'm aware of the addressing issue and tried using the true address of the camera as well as 1 above and below and still nothing. Is there something else here I have not tried? TIA

When you boot the Spectra what shows on the screen? I assume your rebooting after each change? Do you have other cameras on here? Com port is correct?

When I boot the camera the model of the camera, Pelco D address 1, Pelco P address 2 and baud rate shows on the screen. I rebooted the the server several times but not each time I changed the settings. Were accessing the server thru a web browser and I never saw a place to configure a com port.

also another thing- you have to add the protocol you setup in the VS11 to the NVR. So if you have the VS11 setup to use Pelco-D, you need to go to 'add/remove PTZ' in the NVR and add Pelco-D protocol.

They are not using a dvr of any sorts. This is complely web accessed. I did set the server up with the proper protocols, baud rate and address like you showed in the screen shots. The other 2 PTZ's they have on site work perfectly. One of them is an IP unit and the other also goes thru a video sever, however not a Geovision model

Are the other 2 PTZs Pelco Spectra as well?

Are you running daisy chain or star topology? Are there any terminators on the other PTZs?

I assume your using a rs232-485 converter? Do you have am independent ptz keyboard to try?

The other PTZ's are not pelco and there is not a controller joystick for the camera. They tell me that the unit had been working until last server died on them. All I was suppose to do was replace the server and configure it for the PTZ. I'm thinking that the last server was an Earthnet?
