Other brands as good as Axis IP Cameras?

I have some Axis cameras around the house for security and they are getting old. I need to replace them and I always look for Axis brand... but I'm sure there are some other brands as good as Axis. What brands do you guys recommend? Requirements are H.264 & MJPEG stream support, POE, motion detection built in... easy to hack and has an API available.

I would look at the Dahua 2mp starlight cameras or the Hikvision ultra lowlight models if night vision is important.
