Which of these are best for apartment building security?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine is superintendent for a small, 2-floor apartment building (35 units). He's been tasked with hiring a local security company to install security cameras to record all public spaces in the building. Overall, the system requires 16 4K cameras, night vision, record on motion, and NVR with capability to identify human and non-human motion (trees, cars, etc). He got some proposals from local firms but he's not sure if the equipment detailed in the proposals are suitable for the building needs. He's not very computer-literate so I'm posting this on his behalf; based on these cameras and NVR, which ones are the best given the above requirements, and which ones should he avoid?

NVRs

=====

(LTN8916-P16) Platinum Enterprise Level 16 Channel 4K NVR 1.5U

(DNR7166) DNR 16CH 6TB

Cameras

======

(N253V8) 4K 8MP Cameras

(CMIP7382W-28M) Platinum Network Vandal Dome IP Camera 4K

Hi. From your links and your requirements the flir is the only option.

When you say public space ....... outdoors only or hallways as well

I would look at turret cameras instead of dome

What do you mean "flir"?

And yes, public spaces and hallways, basement too.

And the cameras must have IR for night vision.

What feature of FLIR addresses the requirements?

Hi. The FLIR will do everything your asking and a lot more than the other one listed.

Coming on the forum has just saved you over $1.200

As the other option will not run all 8mp cameras

Hi. The LTS system at 16 cameras will only run 4 at 8mp and the rest at 1080p ...... so there is no point having 12 x 8mp cameras that you can’t run at there best and those 12 camera would of been a waste of money

If we max out storage at 12Tb on the FLIR DNR7166, how much video can that store assuming 16ch at 4K/8mp? 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month?

Hi. That depends on your settings 12tb you should get between 2 and 3 weeks.

And also how much motion is picked up by cameras.

With your system ....you should look at H265 ..... But if your cameras are set to H264 it will eat away your storage (yours does both)
