Upgrade analog CCTV system to TVI/IP

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi,

I have an existing analog CCTV system with 8 cameras.

I purchased a Hikvision DS-7208HQHI-K1.

This supports 8 analog + 2 IP cameras.

Basically, I am looking for advice on what would be the best cameras to upgrade to.

I would like to upgrade maybe 1-2 cameras at a time.

I have cat6 running to most of my camera locations so could replace 2 with IP cameras.

Question: What MP to choose?

I was thinking of 2.1MP 1080p TVI cameras for most locations.

The literature for my DVR mentions " Up to 4MP lite resolution for recording".

https://www.hikvision.com/en/Products/Digital-Video-Recorder/Turbo-HD-DVR/Turbo-HD-4.0/DS-7204/7208/7216HQHI-K1

What is the best camera for replacing one of the 8 existing analog cameras, and what would be the best IP camera?

This is just for covering the outside of my home but would like to get the best (or close to it) that the DVR supports.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. You would be better not using any ip cameras.

That system will take 4mp hd analog cameras ......you can only use 3mp ip camera so makes more sense to stay with 4mp
