Recommended Posts

I would like to know if the DVR can be reformatted with an updated firmware ? if it is possible what would be the firmware for the attached unit and how to perform the upgrade without knowing the password.

The model code on the board is 2308SE V1.02

The Serial number 2308ME 1008160161

No brand name no manufacturer made in China

Video system NTSC/PAL

Most upgrades are:

1. USB with firmware loaded. Firmware loads on boot if it determines it is newer

2. Serial Port command line and Hyperterminal

3. FTP

4. GUI based with network or USB

You don't know the manufacturer, but you have upgraded firmware????? If your not 100% sure what your doing or you have the wrong firmware, you could brick your unit.

Upgrading firmware doesn't reformat the hard-drive. I'm with the previous post. DON'T do anything with firmware unless you absolutely know that it's the right one. or that DVR will be junk. Even if the firmware is right, I've seen many DVR's junked with an attempted "upgrade"!
