serial debug console

Recommended Posts

i have a standalone dvr unit, model ANF-1648, the front panel says Isis, but ive been told its made by ITX. anyways, so im attempting to obtain firmware for it but have been unsuccessful so far, i have searched all over the inet. Also, i have connected to it via the serial (rs232) port and eventually figured out how to get it to halt the boot process and give me a login prompt. i know the username is root but i cant figure out the password. attached is a picture of the unit and a sreenshot of what im dealing with.

I think it's a slightly different

console password and password after reset is probably different passwords!

possible after a reset, enter the default password, but it makes the user, without any connections to RS232

the thing is, i dont know the defaut password for console login. ive looked all over the internet and cant find very much info about console login, hot keys, or debugging. it seems like its a very secretive topic. people dont talk much about it.

i wonder if there are any other possible login names to use other than root..... most importantly, i wonder who knows or where to find out the default root password..
