Super Mini NVR Hard drive confusion.

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I’m new to the forums but have found them very valuable as I go about working out now to configure my new Super Mini NVR.

I’ve had a bit of a read through the 59 page post to try and find an answer to my question.

The device is working and configured alright at the moment. I’ve got a bit of a query about the hard drive configuration. I tried a few drives sitting around here and found that the device is a bit fiddly. So I borrowed an external powered Segate HDD that appears to be working fine the only problem is that this 1tb drive is not mine to keep. I went out and purchased a WD Elements 2TB 2.5 Passport drive that the NVR detects. I’ve formatted the drive via the NVR.

Where I’m confused is whilst I’ve had the WD plugged into the NVR and it detects the drive it does not record to the device.

With the Segate plugged into it the NVR detects it and automatically records to the device.

I’ve decided to plug both of them in at the same time and take a screenshot so that people can see what I’m talking about. The only thing that I can figure out is two status lights that are different. The segate has a red circle and the WD has a blue circle, I’ve checked the manual and can’t figure out what it means.

To compound things. I can place the WD into my computer and it reads. The segate, despire being able to retrieve information via the playback option and from the pc tool tells me I need to format the drive when I insert it into the PC. Kind of confusing indeed.

Anyways, any help would be much appreciated. Please find attached screenshot.

Regards Scor.
