€20 over PayPal to the person that can unlock this DVR.

Hi,

As you can probably guess, I'm desperate. Posted this in the general thread and on its own and unfortunately got no where.

Hoping a small incentive might make this a bit more visible

I have a DVR from aliexpress. It will no longer accept the password despite two of us being completely sure that we are using the correct password.

No make listed, but the model number is A1008E and you will find plenty of examples of it for sale on the web.

Here are some pictures from Google images:

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to reset this thing?

This is my dad's second DVR after the first failed and now this has happened. I'd be eternally grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. I've tried pulling out the CR232, but that just stopped the clock, so no hope of resetting the device memory that way.

I've also had a look at the chips and all I could identify was the video decoder. I can take pictures of the inside if that helps.

I also have the device serial number which I can post if needed.

Thanks in advance.

If it's not "branded", your best bet is through the vendor you bought it for.

You mentioned through Aliexpress. Check with them.

Too many of these unbranded equipment.

The assemblers will get board, casing, etc from different manufacturers and assemble the system.

Even though the system looks the same (since casing supplied by same manufacturer or clone), the internal board/firmware/software might be totally different.

Even if you get it from the same vendor, over time they might not consistently use the same board/firmware/software.

This make integration difficult down the road as each batch of DVR might require different software/apps to access.

Yeah, definitely an issue Daryl. I bought this DVR originally and my dad liked mine so much better than his, he bought one as well.

The only thing, they made a slight change in the software. On mine, I can define the mobile port and then I can just connect to my home IP to view the channels. On his, they have removed this option and now you have to sign up to this ARSP crap.

What I can say is that board and boxes are the same, and the software looks exactly the same except for the removal of the remote viewing option.

Mine also didn't lock out the admin password for no reason

I tried contacting the seller, no response.

Thanks for the comment Tom, but I've already tried every default password imaginable.

Anyway, after 3 weeks, the seller of the DVR has got back to me with a super password (generated by date) and it worked

I just wish I had the software they use to generate these. Not much use to me having to wait 3 weeks if this happens again (I have two of these boxes).

Would it be possible to look at the date and code and try and work backwards to see what formula they are using?
