A cctv system becomes useless if anyone can go in and delete full or parts of footage.

Say you was a store owner with bad staff cctv is useless if they can remove clips they don't want you to see

i understand the logic now but the problem is i have to delete older videos from my dvr which i dont want right now as i i am getting a new dvr model but it will use the older hdd which has my videos. i dont want the engineer to see them.
what if i format the hdd. will it reset the whole dvr?
i mean will i have to reinstall all the software or however it works. or will it just clean up the old recordings and willl still work without any problem

Thanks
