Using Q-See BNC wires to Night Owl system

Hello. Back in 2015 I bought a 4 channel Q-See QT Series security system for my house. Fast forward to today, I bought an 8-Channel Night Owl C-841-PIR3MP system. I want to use the current wires to hook this system up. They are both BNC connections and they fit perfect, but for some reason the new cameras don't work on it? I hooked up the new DVR and the old cameras work on it, but the new cameras don't. I used the new wires on the new cameras and they worked. I am just trying to avoid rewiring everything. Are there different types or gauges of BNC connections? Thanks!
