IR LEDs stopped workign on all cameras over a 3 day period

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

First time poster here - 2 months ago had an 8 camera system installed and worked perfectly up until 3 days ago. One by one each cameras IR LEDs would turn off for a second or two, then come back on. This progressively got worse over the course of three nights and now the IR doesn't come on at all on any camera. During the day all the cameras work perfectly. Is it possible the power supply went bad and is not providing enough power to each camera for the IR to come on? The power supply is a 16 channel 12v 10 amp dc with 7 camera connected. Any thoughts/ assistance would be much appreciated.

Check all of your connections at the cameras first.

Check cabling for breaks, signs of corrosion burn marks and the like.

Are any outdoors and are the connections weather tight?

Also check all connections at the power supply.

A long shot if you have a volt meter check the voltage on the circuit the power supply is on at the outlet AND at the breaker in your electrical panel. While you are in the panel check that the breaker (hot) wire is tight you must turn the breaker off for safety to do this. Also check the Neutral wire as well. A loose neutral wire can cause weird things to happen.

You can temporarily turn off the power source and ensure that none of your wire connections have come loose. Sometimes, rebooting your security cameras seems to be a golden rule to fix all problems, and you may have a try to see if it works.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. It turned out to be the power supply went bad. I replaced it and everything is normal again. Thankfully it was under warranty.
