New member to these forums and hoping to get some insight from the people here about using IP cameras in elevators.

Traditionally, I've always used analog cameras in elevators as coax cabling is easier to deal with in such an environment. However I have a client who is requesting an IP only solution for their suite of systems (Access & CCTV).

The building is 21 stories, and has 14 elevators, each one of which requires a camera. The building backbone is fiber, with Cat 6 horizontal cabling making an IP solution preferable, but with that many floors I can't run copper as I'll exceed the 90m cable distance restriction for 802.3 (allowing for 10m patching).

The client wants a seamless integration of systems, so I know I also probably can't use a mix and match solution (for example, Mobotix for the elevators and Pelco for the rest), and it must also integrate to the (as yet unspecified) Access Control system.

How would people normally get around this ? All advice gratefully received.

A few years ago I added some additional IP cameras for a customer. The cable was supplied by the customer, it came in a white box, no name. I ran a couple legs, about 200 feet each, all of the outside runs were in 1/2" EMT to provide protection from the weather. I recently got a call that one of the cameras quit working, the brand doesn't matter here. I tested the camera with my Triplett tester, the camera checks out ok. I checked the cable for discontinuities with both my Triplett and Fluke, somewhere inside the conduit, about 86 feet from the camera I found three opens, some as much as a foot apart. I've run many thousands of feet of cable in my life and have never seen defective cable. Tomorrow I pull the cable from the conduit and strip the jacket looking for physical damage, but that will be tomorrow.

When a company manufactures 1000 foot spools of cable, is each of the eight conductors a continuous length of wire, no splices? I know I've seen even Belden multi conductor jacketed wire with splices once in a while, inside the jacket, would never have known that. So back to my question, it's hard to believe that there are no splices on 1000 feet of multi conductor cable, if there were not, I think there would be a lot of wire going into the recycle bin. I think I'm going to find splices near the discontinuity, the break could be because of brittle solder connections, thermal expansion/shrinking, etc. My TDR only shows reflections from the opens, no noticeable changes in impedance.

Has anyone else seen this problem? It's a first time for me.

I'm dealing with an issue where I can no longer connect to my Hikvision NVR through the web interface or iVMS. I've verified that the username and password are correct—the password is stored in a password manager and has worked consistently.

For testing purposes, I tried changing the IP address using the SADP tool. Interestingly, SADP accepted the same password that doesn't work when trying to log into the NVR directly (via web GUI or iVMS), so I'm sure the credentials are correct. The username is the same one I use on another NVR at a different location without any issues.

Since the last restart, the NVR has also stopped responding via Hik-Connect (device is reachable from local network, but as mention above - I'm unable to log in to them)

I attempted to download the recovery file through SADP, but received the error:
"Failed to get the key. Device timeout. Record its model and software version and contact manufacturer." (shown in picture bellow)

I've tried contacting Hikvision support multiple times with no success.

Any suggestions on what else I could try?

	Thanks in advance!

	Hi,

	I am about to buy:

	Burglar alarm: Pyronix Enforcer v11

	CCTV: DS-7608NI-M2/8P + Colorvu cameras 8mp

My concern is notifications from cameras. I know you can set up schedule for notifications. But is it possible to link burglar alarm with cameras so cameras will send push notification if burglar alarm is armed?

What I would like to achieve:

If there is anyone at home so only front driveway camera will send push notifications.

If everyone leaves home and the last person arms burglar alarm then all CCTV cameras will send push notifications.

I hope you understood what I want to achieve. Thank you in advance for help!

I have a local POE injector working perfectly powering an Acti D72 camera, but the C6F0SoZ3N0PdL2 doesn't want to know. I'm getting 48 volts on pins 4 and 5, and 0 volts on 7 and 8 of the Cat5 plug. It works fine over the Cat5 with local power from the supplied 12v adapter.

Anyone else got these working on POE, or any help appreciated please?

	It's running V24.1.41.16.3-20241105 firmware.

Hi all,

Having an issue with the night recording on my Swann NVR-7300.

Playback using the software is perfectly fine and plays audio and video in sync at normal speed. However, when backing up/downloading either on the software on the PC or straight from the box via USB the recording plays at almost double the speed. It happens on all cameras (I have three in total).

A recording downloaded from during the day plays back perfectly. A recording downloaded from during the night plays back at almost double the speed and the audio is about 20 seconds behind. I have turned off the 3D noise reduction setting so will check again tonight however don't think it will make a difference.

Any ideas anyone? Many thanks in advance!!
