<p>
	Just a quick note to say hello.

	Hello again guys,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm looking to purchase a good quality working system with a minimum of 4 cameras. I am assuming i will need a <abbr title="A digital video recorder (DVR) is an electronic device that records video in a digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card, SSD or other local or networked mass storage device.">DVR</abbr> for this?
</p>

<p>
	Of the 4 cameras i would need 2 cameras to be <abbr title="Point Tilt Zoom - Camera functionality">ptz</abbr> controlled by a joystick.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	im based in North East, Middlesbrough, TS1, UK.
</p>

<p>
	If i have to i'll happily purchase a second hand system, as long as everything works and doesn't look to old.
</p>

<p>
	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	I am in the UK and new to CCTV.  I have a couple of Tapo cameras and they work fine with the Tapo app on my mobile phone.  I am reluctant to subscribe to a cloud system which seems to be an open-ended deal.  So I would like to use a <abbr title="Network-attached storage (NAS) is dedicated file (video) storage that enables multiple users and heterogeneous client devices to retrieve data from centralized storage server.">NAS</abbr> on my home network to make and keep recordings.
</p>

<p>
	Currently I'm "diddlin' around" on the internet to learn about how it all works, but I'm confused by the references to the need for licence for each home CCTV camera to record to a home <abbr title="Network-attached storage (NAS) is dedicated file (video) storage that enables multiple users and heterogeneous client devices to retrieve data from centralized storage server.">NAS</abbr>.  I assume that most of what I read refers to the situation in the US.  Is this applicable in the UK, too?
</p>

<p>
	I would be very please to hear of a CCTV user group (not affiliated to any manufacturer) in the UK?  Are there any such forums or useful Facebook groups?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks for any help.
</p>

<p>
	Regards, Malcolm.
</p>

<p>
	Hi i am Jay,
</p>

<p>
	As you have guessed i am new to your forum, but eager to learn.
</p>

<p>
	I need to find out what cables and connectors i need for the 2 different cameras around 7 years back.
</p>

<p>
	Would the usb-<abbr title="A digital video recorder (DVR) is an electronic device that records video in a digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card, SSD or other local or networked mass storage device.">dvr</abbr> be of any help? Likewise would the radio av receiver be any use?
</p>

<p>
	 Lastly could i use an old laptop to view what the cameras are watching?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Many thanks in advance
</p>

<p>
	Hi, I’m hoping someone here might be able to help us.
</p>

<p>
	We have an issue with a neighbour, as do most other residents here. The police have been involved a number of times and said he’s unstable and to keep a record of things. We naively got ring cameras but he seems to be able to jam or hack these and stop them working whenever he steps out of his front door. They always work the rest of the time though.<br />

</p>

<p>
	We need a backup of some sort but in all honesty can’t really afford an all singing all dancing proper cctv system. So, we’re looking for some kind of camera that will constantly record so that we have a backup when the rings stop working. He’s an IT wizz so we’re wary of getting anything that relies on Wi-Fi as he can probably hack them. I’m not being dramatic here, this is the kind of thing he does.
</p>

<p>
	I was looking for something that might record constantly and save to an sd card or a hard drive and doesn’t need fixing to the outside wall? We were thinking of having a camera in an upstairs window.
</p>

<p>
	if you’ve read this far then thank you and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

<p>
	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	We've had this DS2 for a few years it must be about 10 years old now. It has become intermittently noisy. I read a post on here that said the drives and the fans were replaced and this did reduce the noise. I have had the top off and removed a lot of dust including from the two small fans, but it's still noisy. I'm an absolute novice at this, we had a local chap who used to look after it for us but he's no longer around.
</p>

<p>
	Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

	I'm Dylan, a software developer and linux kernel enthusiast. I ran across here while researching my <abbr title="A digital video recorder (DVR) is an electronic device that records video in a digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card, SSD or other local or networked mass storage device.">DVR</abbr> box.
</p>

<p>
	I'm currently working on updating the BSP (board support package) for the Hisilicon Hi3520D V200. My goal is to be able to run a modern U-Boot and Kernel on this device and establish Yocto support to allow customized firmware to be easily developed. Hisilicon's BSP only supports Linux 3.0.11, and I have updated the BSP to Linux 3.0.101 successfully. I'm currently working on updating this BSP to 6.x.
</p>

<p>
	I recently bought a Hi3536 based <abbr title="A network video recorder (NVR) is a specialized computer system that includes a software program that records video in a digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card or other mass storage device.">NVR</abbr> as my next BSP porting project, but that's on the backburner until this one is complete.

<p>
	Hi
</p>

<p>
	I’m hoping to get some information from you guys/gals if I can. Recently our school opened a new branch and one of the classrooms has a camera connected to a TV directly outside the class so that parents can observe the lesson in real time.
</p>

<p>
	However, it appears to me that there may actually be two (2) cameras not one.
</p>

<p>
	I’d appreciate any information you can provide based on the photos that I’ll try to attach to this message.
</p>

<p>
	If there is a second camera: what kind is it and how/where could it be storing/transmitting the image (and audio?)?
</p>

<p>
	I’m concerned that our company may be remotely monitoring us without informing us.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks for any information that you can provide.
</p>

	Hello everyone,
</p>

<p>
	Hope you're all doing well. Just to introduce myself, I am new to the world of CCTV, though I consider myself somewhat tech savvy (I can put together a PC and do light troubleshooting).
</p>

<p>
	Mainly joined this forum to learn more about CCTV systems, how to set them up securely, troubleshoot connection issues, and just learn more about this new (to me) technology. I lack experience when it comes to VoIP and CCTV systems.
</p>

<p>
	Feel free to ask me any questions about life in Kuala Lumpur, I've just moved back here from living abroad for many years. Still find the country to be an exciting and lively place to live. Have started a family and moved here from Vietnam, previously teaching English in private and public sector.

	Fun fact about me: I have slightly shorter than normal arms, like a trex, see attached pic for reference (credit to Hotpot.ai for the image)
