I am just beginning to play around with a Hikvision setup. I am running one of the 3mp Hikvision bullets connected to a Hikvision NVR. The NVR auto-detects the camera and I can connect to the NVR from my main home computer (on the same network) but I cannot connect via web browser to the camera that is plugged in to the NVR. It looks like I get a lot more camera setting adjustments if I can connect to the camera directly.

I am running on a 192.168.1.x LAN IP block. The NVR configures itself when I check for it to use the router's DHCP server and assigns an IP address to the camera but I can't ping the camera IP address. Also, if I try to ping the IP address of where the camera is supposedly at I get "Destination host unreachable"

Any ideas?

UPDATE: I installed and ran the Hikvision SADP software and it only sees the NVR. Does this mean that the only way to connect directly to the cameras is to use a POE injector so I can power the camera outside of the NVR? If I did that, can I make all the camera specific adjustments and then hook it back into the NVR? Not elegant but it is doable I suppose.

I currently view the cameras in my office using CMS over my internal network. It's useful as I can easily change the video motion detection etc and with the DVR in the office I hear it's internal buzzer alerts. I'd like to keep that functionality.

I have tried to set it up on my mobile so I can see the cameras when I am away off site.  It seems incredibly complicated, with things like enabling DHCP etc. I tried that and only managed to stop the CMS working in the office. I didn't manage to get it working on my phone at all.

Any input and suggestions invited. Is it possible to use the CMS application and also achieve viewing on the phone. Or are those objectives in conflict?

For example, intrusion detectors are linked to video surveillance. When someone is detected breaking in, the video surveillance will pop up a screen, and the app will receive an on-site video of the alarm.

Fire alarm detectors can be linked to fire-fighting equipment, and when smoke or flames are detected, the sprinkler head will be turned on.

Glass breakage or vibration detectors or other audio devices are linked to video alarms. When abnormal sounds are detected in the monitored area, the video surveillance system will pop up a live screen and send the video to the mobile app.

How is the traditional alarm system linked to video surveillance?

There are two common ways of linkage. Hardware wiring linkage and software protocol communication linkage. Video surveillance NVR normally has up to 16 wired alarm input interfaces, which can be used to connect infrared beam, intrusion detectors, etc. For places where monitoring is the main focus, NVR can be used as the central linkage alarm and access control system for the security system.

However, for places where detection and alarm are the main focus, NVR cannot meet the requirements. I bought 3 used Hikvision cameras (DC-2CD2346G2) cameras to add to my DVR (model iDS-7216HUHI-M2).

I need some basic instruction in how to add them (they may or may not be factory reset).

I have plugged the camera into the router directly and then have accessed the DVR settings via the browser and using System/CameraManagement/IPCamera .. can get to the "quick add" or "add" commands ... but when I do this I then struggle. I can see the new camera in the camera list but it shows as offline / IP address not aligned to others...

Can someone help as to a) do I need to reset passwords on the camera, if so how and b) how to add it in line with the other IP cameras.

I just bought Samsung z Fold 6. Now I am unable to install MEye Pro, to view my DVR. It say software is incompatible. I had Samsung S23 and it software was working fine.

Now I can't view my dvr on any mobile app. It is not connected to dvr. I haven't change any setting on my dvr.

what is happening with this new Samsung z Fold 6 sofware. It look like Samsung has massed the thing up.

Please can any one help. I have struggling for last two weeks to get it working.

i can get a 8 camera wifi system to replace the 8 bullet cams and have the house wired for those locations for power.  but i'm not getting good answers to having the house wired for camera feeds. so that is why i'm asking about wifi cameras and using there won dvr if that kind of system does not have any dropouts on the feed. thanks.

I own a 16Ch Dahua analog recorder and I have 7 cameras on it and planning to add 2 more local cameras. (Sorry I am out of home and can't check the model now.) For the past almost 2 years it has never failed me.

I don't leave it online due to previous discussions in this forum about Dahua data collection, general safety issues etc etc. So it is running 99% of times local only, offline, monitored via HDMI. I only some times put it online I am out of the house to keep an eye there; making sure nothing like a PC or NAS is online in the same network. The cameras are watching outside my house not very private areas so I don't really care. (Well I do, but what can you do? Is there a 100% safe company?). For when I leave home I use the P2P option that as far as people say here is terrible safe wise. Is it still? Opening ports, I don't get it and it feels even more dangerous than P2P. Anyway.

Now...

I am going to create a separate network that will have no access to other devices like computers, NAS devices, smart devices etc so I can keep the XVR online all the time. The reason why I want the recorder to be online is because I need to add 3 remote IP cameras on it so I can watch the office when home. I tested adding a demo camera that is in DAHUA offices (with IP, username & password and a port.) and it was working fine. I was expecting adding an IP camera to disable the DMS

 The problem: we do not have a static IP in the office

That means that even if I manage to add the camera (I don't want to open a port in my router) the IP is going to change in a few hours/days/weeks so this is pointless. Did I mention I don't want to open a port? xD

So the questions:

1. Is there a safe company we can trust to have an XVR/NVR online all the time on our network? Is Dahua safer than in the past?

2. Using Dahua; how can I add the remote camera if I have no static IP? I would use a DNS service but the DNS provides an domain not a static IP right?

Only problem I have is that they use CGNAT and now I can't access my CCTV system remotely on my mobile device.

The NVR is the OYN-X iAtlantis PRO iApollo 8 (basically from the family of Dahua, QVIS etc.) The App I'm using is Pegaso.

There is an option to pay £5per month for a static IP address but would like to avoid this if possible.

I was given an IPv6 address from BRSK and when I inserted this in the Address field in the App I am getting "Connection Failed".

Port :37777 - does this remain the same on the App ?

IP Address / Default Gateway / Preferred DNS / Alternate DNS are all default values which are prefilled when I change the drop down to IPv6.

I change the IP address to the one given by BRSK but do I amend any of the other options ?

I assume this applies worldwide?   I have heard about licences in the US, but thought this is a national/legal constraint, which doesn't apply in the UK.  But I understand now that most manufacturers have ongoing proprietary licences/subscriptions in order to use their hardware and camera monitoring software.   I have been told (I had to ask ChatGPT! as I cannot find an alternative source of info. for a newbie like me) that Synology, QNAP. Asustor, WD, Thecus and Buffalo all follow a subscription scheme.  ZoneMinder and iSpy (is the latter now superceded?) were suggested as open source alternatives.  

What home surveillance systems (using 4,5 cameras) and an NAS on a home network (the NAS would be used for general network storage, too) have UK readers set up which are free for ongoing use?  (I am not concerned about cloud storage or other centralised services - I want a self-contained home system.)

Please, can someone out there offer me some help and clarity?   Furthermore, I'm not at all confident about reyling on a chatbot as being authoritative:  can someone suggest better sources for a beginner, like me?   E.g. websites, forums(and good old-fashiioned printed books), etc. that can educate me on the topic of home surveillance? I am really floundering in this subject, as a beginner.

i have a hikvision system. i have messed up one of the cameras by accidently setting it to a higher resolution "3k20". it now shows no video, iv tried logging into the web and restoring default settings eetc but no luck.

I need to find out what cables and connectors i need for the 2 different cameras around 7 years back.

Would the usb-dvr be of any help? Likewise would the radio av receiver be any use?

 Lastly could i use an old laptop to view what the cameras are watching?

I need a IR spotlight to cover a area around 12-15' wide at a distance of 45' from the camera. The IR light would be mounted on a front porch directed to the area just past the sidewalk. This involves vandalism of a sign at the curb. Also, I would be using a Bosch analog camera as of now.

Are there any IR spotlights (as opposed to 'flood'lights) out there, I haven't found any with initial searches.

I have avtech analog KPD 674 4 ch ,and in the ip settings when i choose static ip (192.168.*.*) with my router getaway , dns my oruter or google 8.8.8.8 and default port 80 after a while ,5-6 h ,the ip changes (with no reboot in dvr and router also ) to 10.111.10.24 and port change to 1024..something. I have to say that it works perfect 3 1/2 years and i din`t change anything ,also i must change when i try it to change it again , the (ip /dns /port )that the machine change it not always the same exp.10.145.14.20 /port 1024 --after 1 day 11.152.18.14 port 2425 .

Ι forgot to say that i change the motherboard battery but it`s not nessesery bacause i lost only the ip settings all other settings are ok

First, are there any good used suppliers for this DVR? I am not finding any.

Secondly, is there a newer version of this DVR that would work with my cams?

I've had the system for years and I am really not look forward to doing the attic crawl to replacing everything with a new system.  I just want to replace the  Samsung SDR-c75300n DVR, either with another one or the replacement upgrade for it.

When connected to the same WiFi at home as the DVR is connected, I can get the images on the phone

When away on a different WiFi network, I get nothing

I am sure I have had it working in the past
