  1. In United States prepaid cell service on average (depending on carrier) MUST: 1. Dial out at least once every 90 days or the plan will be terminated 2. Minimum credits must be loaded every 90 days, regardless of balance. Usually in $25 increments.
  2. is it cellular or land line?
  3. are you looking to see video while opening gates Would be nice... but not necessary. Since snapshots will be sent as notification to customers phone, live video not necessary in same application. If they want to see live video could just switch to different app. not sure what you're asking about network? what kind of gsm are you referring to? i guess i was assuming you meant cellular gsm... are you referring to the style of gsm you can dial into and say push "*9" when it answers to open the gate? this could work, but there is no phone line there... would have to go voip back to house which is roughly 4000' feet away
  4. do you know a bluetooth that works all over 10 acres?
  5. There is a network on site... no need for gsm

    Thread hijacked again!

Excuse me? we've been putting away "perps" with analog for years just based on things like that. Example just the other day some masked men robbed a jewellery store, but one had a custom gangsta hair style .. thanks to the $40 Color IR analog cameras which captured his special hair style in the pitch dark no less (and some other features you claim analog cant capture LOL) .. cops got him within a couple days, and he eventually gave up the others. BTW race, height, and eye color is very little to go on when there are tens of thousands of others that have those same exact features. But seriously are you saying an analog camera cant tell the persons race? If the analog camera cant tell it, then how on earth do you think the megapixel camera will, it sees through things? We also used to watch sports on giant 300lbs CRT and projection TVs for many years.... last time I checked being old in the technology business wasnt a good thing. Old: 40" 480i crt new: 60" 1080p LED put the 2 side by side and one cant help but giggle thinking about what once used to be awesome... or even "good enough"
  11. Anyone with experience with both? Which do you prefer? Why? Why is Nitek more than 2x the price? Need 16 channel passive hub with power pass through and 16x RJ45s. Nitek: PVR164 and VB31AT vs Muxlab: 500134 and 500024
  12. What is your ultimate goal? Do you want to sit back and watch the orders roll in on a box pushing website? Do you want to provide some level of service to your customers? Will you offer technical assistance for both pre and post sales? Do you have a list of quality products and reliable suppliers line up?

  15. At my favorite sports bar I noticed they used something I didn't even know existed for the TVs... an all in one cable that had 3 leads for component video, 2 for audio, 1 cat5e, and I believe there was another wire like 22/4 but can't remember.... and no, it didn't just have heat shrink on it. Anyone know where to get this magic cable? I've tried Google but haven't found it yet

    Tablets

Guys, I have a brand new laptop. That's not going away. There's no argument there is no substitute for a full blown computer. Especially in the IT and CCTV world. However for handheld, casual everyday use tablets are money. I have a feeling my laptop will hardly every be used anymore.

I'm in the market for a tablet pc... I'm comparing ipad, sony tablet s, xoom, and samsung galaxy tab, and others. Anyone have any recommendations?
  18. Snapshots work, but you must configure on the box... for some strange reason on iSetup the option is greyed out. iSetup works, but not for everything like user setups. I have work around for issues on clients... If its one of the troublesome PCs, do not try to downlod RC from site via IE. Download/ install copy of RC. You can get a copy from Aver's FTP or I have a copy in my Dropbox that I made a public link to if you want me to send it. Works great without any issues if you do this way.
