  1. Hi...

I'm a newbie in this field and I hope I'm not asking a stupid question here.

What is the RFID frequency for a normal long range reader? I mean is there a standard frequency for all long range reader or it varies with different brand?

    Thanks in advance!

long range probably at 13.56MHz up to 900 MHz calling UHF, LF 125KHz unable to reach long 1 metre probably the longest I seen for this range.

what do you want to achieve, see if you can help.

  2. Does anyone know of a swipe card system that would allow they employee to push a button, either in or out and swipe their card or tag and record the time and date? If anything just a simple system that would record the time and date of each swipe and store it on a computer?

you can use a access controller with various kinds of reading card devices ( incl. swipe card or push button ) to keep in and out record. the access controller connecting to PC via TCP/IP, should within $200, you can build it.

  3. any recommendations on what mini plug to use for a covert camera. BNC is to big. current one is soldered to coax but would like a small plug that can fit on the pigtail and coax. coax will probably be RG59 unless i can squeeze RG6 in there somehow.

do u want it in longer term? we have abundant supply of different connectors, can decide a specific solution for you.

what ptz protocol do you need? pelco?

  6. I mainly install intruder alarms but now and again i will upgrade a CCTV system which usually involves changing the existing CRT monitor for an LCD type. However the customer is usually left a little disappointed with the quality of the image on the LCD monitor compared to what was available using the CRT, can somebody please explain why the LCD image is not as good and are there and LCD monitors that match the image quality of the CRT.

sorry for my doubtfulness of a secret agenda, did the customer also ask for something else?

  7. I am wondering if anyone of you tried to make of Cat5 cable with proper wiring to power up an IP camera (using 12V DC)?

Because only 2 pairs of wires enough for data comm, is it possible to use another pair for 12V DC power. And at both ends.

Is it really possible? any limitation or risk? or in the market there is such a small device for this special wiring?

    Thanks.

  8. Your sharings are inspiring.

I also took a search from several major brands and surprisingly found only this one look convincing being vandalproof. It's ExSite Series Explosionproof Positioning System from Pelco.

I even cannot search out any claimed vandalproof products from some providers...

Therefore, I expect this 'feature' probably not good to achieve.

Here's a link for your intereest.

  9. can anyone please explain this 2 me. does the power travel without connections (in thin air) and is this possible? or have i got it all wrong and connections do have to be made all the way from one device to another, i only use my cameras for my own home security via plug and play cables and the only ethernet connection i have is from my dvr to pc. Can i use this POE with my system or is it mainly for ip cameras

    Thanks

And there are some PoE splitter now in the market for simple use. Not necessarily buy expensive PoE switch...,etc...

    Rgds, Dove

And I see it also depends on the equipment you're using, supply side and user side should match in voltage to have the whole set work.

  11. Hello,

As there are so many cameras claimed vandalproof, actually is there a standard identifying this? Does it mean even a gun unable to break the transparent glass cover?

Do you know any * genuine * vandalproof outdoor ptz camera in the market? can you share with me how it is?
