  1. yes HD is the way most casinos have gone. you need the best possable FPS on the casino table.
Actually, very few casinos have deployed any IP cameras and far fewer have totally gone IP. Most who have are brand new properties.

Hi survtech. i was talking about pure HD system not ip. Unlike IP systems where compression takes place at the camera a HD/CCTV digital video recorder will make the decision on the resolution and quality of recorded video images. This allows for direct display of true HD images in 720p and 1080p and also the recording of images in resolutions at anything from QCIF right through to 1080p.

Recordings may also be compressed as usual but recordings may also be made uncompressed which means that the image recorded is identical to the image transmitted from the camera and displayed on the monitor. This is a true end to end HD CCTV system.

granted there are not many casino systems on the market and the ones that are carry a big price. the good thing about HD is you can use the existing coax when doing upgrades.

  2. I have bought a chaines PTZ camera unfortunately no one can install it

there is 6 wires for Alarm so where it should connect ? anybody knows

hi the alarm wires you dont use. these are for external alarm inputs like redwall. you only need your coax / power and data connections.

if you can post a picture of your PTZ and also the dvr/nvr you are connecting too.

  3. Thanks. It's annoying that there's no identifying lettering on it anywhere. Elsewhere locally there are fixed ANPR cameras with the same plate antennae. I'm assuming this is all linked to a police CCTV monitoring room, so would be via a secure system.

Hi squiffy. it a microwave system. used all over the uk. if you stand and look at the way the plate is pointing you will either see another or a collecting point.

  4. tomcctv what they are most interested in is on the tables what they have now they cant make the cards at times or see how many chips are on the table unless they zoom in at live view but on play back when they most need it is when it gets harder to make out. Is hdcctv a better option for them i know the price is higher but right know they are open to all. All there equitment as of now is pelco matrix\keyboard\ptz and there dvrs are computer base with geovision running on them and a minicom system to call the dvrs.

i would say to start looking at avigilon HD. http://www.avigilon.com/?gclid=CIGkgfGJjagCFQoZ4QoduwdACg

  5. oh, sorry for the amateur questions but we all being here gots to start somewhere. with the licence this is for live view and on storage is there another one or is one for all. And does each cam have its own license. Thanks.

Hi. ayalas. what has your customer asked for as in what will the cameras be doing. watching around the casino / entry/exit/ bar area. or to watch the table. ip will be too slow to watch what goes on at the table.

  6. I have Sony cameras. Pelco D, 2400.

My cameras are about 5 meters from the DVR and connected with double wire.

I've setup my cameras with Lupus Aeon DVR LE800 and all seems to work fine, but not PTZ over iPhone 4.

    - I can access and PTZ cameras via PC (home network) app DVR Remote Desktop.

    - I can access and PTZ cameras via PC (Internet - Remote) app DVR Remote Desktop and IE8.

    - I can access video from the cameras via iPhone 4, both Home Network and remotely via Internet and 3G using scDVR

    - I can NOT move cameras (PTZ) via iPhone 4, both Home Network and remotely via Internet and 3G using scDVR.

Hi rucanunes. your dvr does not support moving of ptz over iphone. the software is old NV avermedia software. the only way you could do it is download a java program for your iphone 4 . and i will pm you a program that will allow you to move your ptz in java. but there is also a new app comming so you can control

  7. Looking for the best way to deploy a mainly WiFi CCTV system out of doors.

I would have attached a floor plan and also a network drawing that I've made, which shows the general idea of what I'm trying to achieve. However, the forum software does not allow .pdf. Anyone got any ideas why not and what could possibly be safer than that, that I can use to share this information with you?

It doesn't seem worth me explaining the rest of my problem now, since you'll have no idea what I'm talking about, so I'll just go and find a forum which is moderated more sensibly!

Thanks for wasting my time in registering and writing this post.

what a good way to start on a forum. you have the likes of photobucket or google maps. and you can insert pdf ... if you put it in a link.

  8. Thanks Guys. Once again you are on it !

My searches were not turning up anything to promising. Soundy, I like you second link. I may check that out if I can't find out any more information about this http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/376743583/GSM_Remote_control_box_Big_power.html

Tom I like your idea also. Even in the alarm industry, we are turning away from using traditional phone lines as everyone moves over to VOIP and cell phones as their primary means of communication. I am really interested to see what else I can find out about the product that I linked above. I like the idea that the device does not answer the phone but instead rejects the call and triggers the relay. It seems as if you could just load a SIM card in and not worry about paying monthly for the minutes if they are never used. Sending a SMS will trigger the second relay...great concept.

Soundy what do you think about it ? and Tom was this device what you were referring to ?

the only problem with buying from the likes of alibaba is you are not buying a licenced GSM device for your country. hence the very cheap price. also if you do go for a GSM option make shure it has a free lifetime sim. or your customer with need to pay just for using the network.

  9. Thanks VST

I tried connecting to my AH1004 nano on an iphone 3 today. As you say, it works great.

I also tried connecting to my DVR using an old lap top running Windows XP. Using this XP machine, Romote Console installed and ran (Windows 7 machine doesn't run) and the viewer used with Internet Explorer also ran without problem (Windows 7 machine generated errors). Also, I noticed that the XP machine was a lot faster in loading the camera image.

I hope that Aver come up with a Windows 7 fix soon. Am thinking about returning my DVR although I'm not sure what I would get instead.

Windows 7 has been around since 2009 so if a fix was going to be released then wouldn't it have been available by now.

Hi davox. your nano will have come with the remote software on a disk. have you downloaded that. if you wish to get it from the DVR in windows 7 then first you have to close all running programes on your pc. then right click internet explor and then log into your dvr as http:// your ip :5550 and it will load

also you can do a quick test http:// your ip :5550/mobile and you will get stills on your pc

  10. TomCCTV.....Rory has a extremely long and proven record on this forum. Lay off on trying to point out smaller issues. Nobody gets paid zip on this forum and you need to chill. Rory has helped many way before your time so you'd be best to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. A USMC Commandant was quoted saying that.....so there! Makes sense, eh?

VST. i have not in any way had a go a rory ... so dont even start that. i have been part of your solution from your first post. but if you wish not to do what avers asks then you will not see a solution.

  11. alpine0000 has been spot on with your budget costs. another cost is your existing pc. it is best to run your cctv on its own pc and not one you use for everyday use. so by the time you have upgraded your pc with extra storage and the likes. and with you only using 4 ip cameras . why not take a look at a small nvr .... no licence costs works with most ip cameras. and is much cheaper than a pc upgrade.

  12. Hi Lindopski am on the wirral also. the tester you have listed will not do what you need. it is only composite connection so you cant control anything with your mouse and keyboard. i take it the dvrs dont have a local monitor ?? remember CMS is port reliant are all your ports the standard avers 5550/5555/9999/53/1053.

  13. Hello and thank you for the replies.

I have inherited the CCTV side of things from my predacessor who was a CCTV installer in earlier life.

I come from an IT support background and as no one seemed to want to help the security manager with these things I sort of jumped in to assist.

We use Avermedia and Dowshu DVRs, mostly Avers now to be honest though we still have a few Dowshu around.

One of the problems I find often is that cameras seem to lose connection, so some way of testing them externally from the DVR itself would be handy - equally it would be useful to attach the gadget up to a DVR and see what is on screen. I may still need to carry a keyboard and mouse about but its better than carrying monitors and allsorts

I think that some of the issues we get when a Whole DVR is playing up is that there is a network issue of some kind and attending them locally to prove they are online and recording fine helps when I have to hassle the network teams.

These DVRs are all viewed remotely at a security office via the network and (in the case of the aver units) Cm3000 software - Cant remember the dowshu one off the top of my head.

Any equipment that would help, would be handy to be honest - I could also do with sitting a few courses I think to get up to scratch but for now I have been looking at a few testers but being pretty wet behind the ears its fairly confusing as to what I really need.

One of our local stores is doing this one

    https://web.nhs.net/owa/redir.aspx?C=d24f1146b35741729b9e47c671c651f7&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.moretonalarms.co.uk%2fshop%2farticle_278%2fCCTV-Tester.html%3fshop_param%3dcid%253D88%2526aid%253D278%2526

It looks like it would do the job alright but like I say I am a bit new to it all.

Ive gone from the world of ICT to a world of Door security/alarms/mag locks/power supplies/CCTV etc.

I love it all but just want to improve and I think think that something along these lines will help me speed things up a bit as at the moment I am lugging about a monitor/keyboard/mouse and the power for it all - usually there is no power near the DVR either which is a right PITA!

The laptop idea is good ,but for some base camera testing as well a proper unit might be more use.

Lindopski. were are you based ......... northwest i guess if you are using dowshu. you should be able to do anything with the CM3000 (if setup right) control / set / alter / and get alerts from all your units. are you using standard or gold CMS

  14. What solutions have you come up with to accomplish this ? I was trying to find something that worked on an analog phone line and would have a relay on board to release the lock after the right code was entered, but I am having trouble finding such a device. I am open to the idea of a network/internet based solution, but I would like for my user to be able to call a number, enter a code and release the lock. Most of the solutions I've found only work from inside the building and do not allow calls from the outside to trigger the device.

Is someone sitting on gold out there ? What have you used that has been successful for you ?

a GSM simulater will do the job. will control most things by just a phone call (with no charge) from and fixed line or mobile you just store the numbers that need to have accsess into the unit. your customer dials into the unit .. the unit sees your customers number and opens gates/doors/

  15. Hello Guys,

I'm looking to order a 16 channel high quality DVR.

    It must be Iphone compatible

It would be optimal to be able to view recordings from a Mac computer

Firefox / Safari / Chrome compatible would be optimal.

D1 recording, 15fps per channel or more

    SATA 2TB HD compatible

    SATA 3TB HD compatible optimal

    The budget is $950.

Looks like the Dahua DVR1604HF would be perfect with all this.

Does anybody knows a reseller in USA for Dahua ?

I also looked over Hanbang HB-8216R

I've used Hanbang in the past and they made quality DVR cards, but I have no experience with their DVR's.

    Any USA Hanbang Reseller ?

Another brand that had quality equipment was Hikvision, anybody knows about them recently ?

    Thank you for your opinion

a company called Qvis. they have the latest Dahua

  16. Hi all ...

In the new office buildings is a very old and dusty Bosh DVR which I would like to replace with a software based solution on a Linux server which is also hosting my PBX (Intel i3 2100T, CentOS & Elastix). Since that system is always on and has ample CPU power, it would be suited to also fit the DVR on there.

I would hook up 6 wired fixed analog camera's on there, though it is possible I might add IP and PTZ camera's over time.

What software would you recommend on Linux ? I know zoneminder exists, but that is starting to age and I imagine there are far better commercial alternatives. Web access for live streaming is essential. Android based monitoring would be a nice to have.

And what hardware would you recommend to go with that software ? I prefer hardware based H.264 encoding.

Or ... would you rather advice for a hardware based 'hybrid' PVR ? That would need to be able to backup to a remote NAS.

Since I am based in Europe, it would be nice to find your offerings over on the old continent ...

    Please advice ..

    MaXX

Hi maxx. if you are using your existing cameras then one way to go is hybrid. most will have options for NAS backup.

since you are in europe then take a look at the aver touch. hardware Compression

  17. Hello All

    CCTV Testers !

I need one to lug around to a few DVRs in various locations around my trusts. at the moment I am carrying a 17" monitor and its cables, a keyboard and a mouse. as you can imagine it isnt fun and hence why I am looking at these things, I am a total noob however and dont have a clue what to go for.

Is there one out there that would make my life easier and if so which is the best to go for?

    Many Thanks

    Hi Lindopski.

there could be an easyer way. if you know the make of dvr you are connecting to. if it has network. you could just carry a laptop with a crossover cable and just plug direct into dvr

  18. rory thats not true. if he uses a old one out of his dvrs range it will not work at all. rory the remote software comes from the dvr when you login. that way you get the one for that software.

and the new remote is the fastest yet.

I have 3 versions of remote console here, 2 came from Avermedias site for specific newer DVR models, the other came from an older EB1304, all have the language drop down. Chief its all the same software, same API. But the newer versions GUI is just slow slow slow. I use remote software for tons of DVRs, Im not making this stuff up, I tell it like it is, the 2 older versions are much faster than the newer one including how long it takes to just open up and load the video, the oldest versions is overall the best most stable fast one out of all 3.

rory its pointless to argue with you ........... first the software you put up in your post was 3 years old and now your talking about the eb1304 thats 5 years old. and as far as the new remote its not on avers site. also a 3rd remote software imatrix.

you keep saying use the old software its much better . it depends if it sees his dvr.

  19. VST which version of remote console are you using?

When you click on setup there is a language drop down, does that not do anything or not show up at all? Its on all 3 versions I have here. And by the way the older versions are much better, older the better, much faster and less GUI hanging.

rory thats not true. if he uses a old one out of his dvrs range it will not work at all. rory the remote software comes from the dvr when you login. that way you get the one for that software.

  20. I'm just trying to help aver see it.......before it backfires and I start to buy different dvr's......

VST. there is nothing for avers to see............. its your pc .... no aver cards no aver cctv system on it its your pc that has malware.

I have 3 pc's right ow that all have the language popup problem.......so the 10 minute fix is now 30 minutes......

does this not give you a clue. on all you PCs same network

we cant talk about the quick fix till the cows come home. i posted the fix in my first post.

  21. and rory remote console and CMS3000 are no were near the same nothing like each other.

I know, I just had the displeasure of using CMS3000.

rory thats because you only used the basic CM3000. which is limited so lets hear what your problems were and we can do something about it. not had anyone complain about the CMS

  22. rory he can make 100 copys of your software posted or install the new remote cilent. the text will still change. he need to remove all avers active x commands.

he mentioned remote console, thats what we are talking about right? Okay there is a slightly newer version I checked it out and its basically the same. As for CMS3000 that is aweful I hope you dont mean for him to use that? Anyway doesnt sound like he has one of the latest dvrs, what model is he using?

yes we are talking about remote console. rory the remote console he has both on the new and old he gets the same problem. there is only one place that he needs to insert the ip address of his remote dvrs. it will work fine for him when first loaded ....... but if he switches of his pc and back on and goes to the ip addres it has changed to what looks like crazy chinese lettering.

we have only seen this once before it took 3 days to find the the problem it was malware on his laptop spyware looking for passwords. run Mcafee fixed the problem.

and rory remote console and CMS3000 are no were near the same nothing like each other.
