  1. Ok. There are two people on this thread and it’s just getting confusing

All the gear no idea …… you need to start a new post …. You should not be using kestrel viewer with your system

KMc you need to delete any app you have …. Kestrel and explorer from your devices and reinstall one of them

My dvr is connected via a wifi to link adapter. The dvr has internet. It’s just the app that won’t load

But does it connect using your internal iP address ….. you will see it under network on your recorder ….. something like 192.168.1.xx

so your only 15 mile from me

  3. Hi. I have well over 600 qvis systems out so I know how to fix problems

the only time you are connected to the xmeye server is when using the qr code ….. using iP address your not on the server

did you try your local iP address ?

the explorer is a much better app than kestrel

and I have just logged on to 3 seperate units at different parts of the uk and none have a problem

    we’re are you located

  4. Hi settings don’t have to be touched … your isp may have changed your external iP address and you would not know

but a simple check if it’s your recorder settings is to use your dvr local iP address that’s shown under network settings on recorder then see if connects

when you first set this unit up did you use the qr code

I’ve changed no settings, so the fact that you are having the same issue makes me think it’s a problem their end rather than ours.

Hi …. Am not having any problem I have delt with qvis for over 20 years I know all there systems inside out

your system is a XM eye unit and the app I recommend is reliable yes old but still works

ip conflict will be your problem on using your existing app

you need to go into network settings on your recorder ….. you will see a tick box DHCP …. Tick it then switch your recorder off for a few minutes then back on and then try connecting to the app

As far as sending it back ….. it should not of been sold to you if from a company as it is 8 years old and you have only had it a month

    we’re are you located

I’ve been using kestrel viewer for years to remotely view my cctv. No settings have been changed and I could still view it yesterday morning. Come yesterday afternoon and it will no longer load. Can anyone suggest anything please

Hi you are best changing your app from the qvis kestrel to the qvis explorer

  7. Hi. If your cameras are working then I would not do any updates on them ….as they are working with your pc then you should not have any problems connecting to a new nvr

i would look at a TVT recorder … it is one of the best on the market and also uses the best app made for cctv .. it allows full control of cameras - remote reset - and alter all recorders menu from the app

the Hikvision DVRs are standalone and due to the age of them our IT don’t want them connected to our IT network due to security risks.

Is it time to modernise the kit and get it connected?

Hi. Your IT Department is right … companies in the uk with the ban on hikvision have remover hikvision completely

this is also why the police will not load hik on a computer footage or software  … under government regulations they cant

using mobiles ….. yes you can make a local network with a wireless router connected to your dvr but I think you will be wasting money

new DVRs are not expensive and you don’t need to change cameras….. and yes it is time to change ……. If something was to happen and your insurance company wanted footage and you can’t it may void insurance and also the problem again insurance companies will not load hikvision onto there computers

what part of uk are you in ? How many cameras do you have

  9. Hi what part of the world are you in ?

burning off to cd or DVD is a thing of the past and police have always been careful when footage is passed to them on a dvd.
with usb at least they can check for viruses

also a lot of companies block usb for the same reason so there are only a few options

record footage on phone or tablet from the recorder app and then send it via email or load to Dropbox and creat a video file box and give police access to that ….. of the same for loading onto YouTube but only give it a reference name …… YouTube if not advised if it is a serious crime

  10. Hi. Just looked at a few on eBay … not many show their real spec …. One is showing 20amp but states max 500ma each channel which is only 0.5amp

some even say auto reset after fault condition…. Yet on there picture it shows fuses for each channel SO not auto reset

can you post a link to the eBay one

  11. Hi

amps is total of power supply …. Some cheap power units have 0.5 amp per channel so that’s the first thing to look at

i always work on 1 or 1.5 amp per channel this covers for cable distance and the surge that you will have when IR comes on …. Some cheap units will not power up all cameras once power has gone off …. So if you work on 1 or 1.5 amp per camera you should be fine

also if space is a problem you can power camera from other location …. Out buildings put power supply there

but I do need a budget to point you in the right direction and your location

that was my thought to buy a cheap 4-1 DVR, use the OSD to change the camera setting from HD-CVI to CVI using the DVR and then unplug the cameras from the DVR and back into the computer.

Hi …… HD and SD. Are high def and standard def ….. this would not help you … cvi tvi ahd are all digital signals and can’t work on your capture card as it’s analog only als HD and SD is not a analog option

if your pc is only used for your cameras then 4in1 dvr is the better option and much better quality plus view from any device

dvr and monitor is the same as using pc and monitor

    any 4in 1 will work just make sure it’s a 5mp 4in1 dvr
also something to look at …. Your cvi cameras don’t need a power supply as there power over coax so will start saving you money on power over time

  13. Hi is the pc also used for something else ??? And is the pc networked

on a old pci capture card you will probably only have cif or D1 resolution so going 5mp hd analog is not going to look good on your monitor

I would buy a cheap 4 in1 dvr 5mp and network them both together ….. this way you will have full 5mp and audio and all settings to camera like contrast brightness colour settings

  14. Hi it sounds like you have 2 system reboots in your schedule you need to switch both off and I would set one for say a Sunday at 6 am

go into main menu  then system and then auto maintenance …. And you will see the times in the schedule

you are seeing a 4 to 5 minute difference because if your recorder is recording something at the time of reboot then it waits till recording to file is complete

Hello. An HDMI over Cat5e/6 extender allows you to leverage the prewired Cat5e wire for extending the HDMI signal. This works well for distances up to 100 feet or more, and it is a convenient way to connect the NVR to a TV that does not have an HDMI port.

Keep spamming it makes good reading ……. Can I ask you HOW does a hdmi extender connect to a TV without hdmi Port

your link shows a well over priced KVM converter not a hdmi extender
