    Old People Fighting

My customers often ask about aftersales, 3yr warranty and tech support sounds appealling to them especially when there's cowboys out there that give little or no aftersales support. Alot of customers feel at ease with an annual service contract, spending a day dusting down cameras and checking the health of a couple of HDD's is money for nothing! Also a camera at £50 with 520TVL's is, in my opinion, good value for money and practical for the job in mind. If cost wasn't an issue 600TVL cams would be installed(with all the 'mod cons' and features), but then again if we all had a bottomless pit of money wouldn't we all have PTZ IP systems?! If you read my posts guys you will know where I buy most of my gear, visit their website for all the spec's and info of the cams mentioned if you wish, I just wanted to compare prices without going to deep into it, thats all. The cams are IR Labs with Sony CCD's(Chinese), good colour depth, I find Korean CCD's quite 'cold', bland and pale looking when it comes to internal applications. I havent heard of CNN or Speco or CNB etc, but then again we're miles apart.

    Identify a camera

Dont quote me on this but this looks like the interns of PIR covert cam, 3.6mm fixed lens, 6 IR's. Is the board about 1 1/2" x 2 1/2"??

Just to compare prices, I would be buying the following stock for the install: Internal domes, 520tvl, 3.6mm fixed lens £50 each Internal domes, 520tvl, 2.5mm-11mm wide angle v/focal lens £70 each(where a wide angled view is needed i.e. where corridors meet) Internal domes, 600tvl, 3.6-11mm v/focal lens £105 each(perhaps just 1 or 2 of these reception area, nurses station etc) External 40m IR tube style cameras, 520tvl, choice of lenses £70-140 each 18.5" LCD monitor £100 19" LCD spot monitor(bnc input) £160 16ch DVR, 1Tb, Netviewer, D1 capable, choice of DVR's £450-700 Any thoughts on the above guys, how does it compare to across the pond?? All of the above would come with a 3yr manufacturers warranty and an excellent tech support team.

Hi nifter53, Having installed cameras in 14 nursing homes(between 32 and 71 cams per install) the only thing I could recommend is purchasing cams with 520tvl+. Time after time all they wanted was to be able to see 'clearly' down corridors etc, so avoid quizzing them with poop loadsa questions. An easy to use DVR would also be a great help, you may be training up a senior nurse that would scream if you mention as much as a 'mouse'. I take it by your '$' sign you arent in the EU otherwise I could recommend a supply for your equipment. So, just keep it basic, nice and simple, and be mr.nice they'll be nice with you! They're good at caring for people, not dealing with cables and complicated equipment. Also, the owners know the other owners of the other homes so do a good job and you may be doing a few residential homes!! G'luck.

Err... afraid not, trade only. If you have a credit card you could set up a 30day account... Call sales and ask for Lee.
  13. I think you will find most posts, especially ones for lighting have their power controlled by a contactor. This means you'll only get power when the lights are commanded on. I do realise that there are also street lighting and other applications where the lights are controlled by photocells. There's no assuming you will always have power 100% percent of the time on all poles. I understand that and living in rural Ireland every other job is '2cams, on a pole, in the middle of nowhere'!!! Override the switch and have the lights on a photocell.... if only every job was that simple!!!
  14. Hi abambam, I dont know where you are in the world but in Ireland there's a company that fit tracking devices to your vehicles enabling you to have an in-depth log of where the vehicle is/was and how long for, what speeds they were doing where etc etc. It is all logged so you can see exactly what is going on from a birdseye view. Dont quote me on this but i think the cost was around 800euro per year(after a hefty premium I imagine) per vehicle, bearing in mind this large food logistics company have 50+ vehicles on the road at any given time. Then there's the option of installing cams in and/or on the vehicles themselves, remember cameras are an excellent deterrent too. There are some neat little mobile DVR's on the market now and I've seen prices start at as little as 100euro. I'm quite sure that if you contacted somebody in your local area they would be only too happy to advise you free of charge. Include your location in the next post one of us maybe closer than you think!
  15. I dont want to second guess you but is there power already at the post?? If so you can purchase some neat wireless transceivers these days... just a thought...

    Cop Security advice please

Hi Badseed, This camera is from cop security(cop.eu) and is priced at £129, watch out for these websites that sometimes sell others products for nearly 2-3x its original price. I don't doubt the IR range of this camera but have installed a few 'similar' cameras and always go for more IR range than needed, if the subject is 35-40m away I would definately consider purchasing a 60/80m IR cam, it'll save you any hassle further down the line. I'll have a scout about and see if there are any offers on a similar cam to be had. PTZ Guy
  17. Excellent find Nimrod, I'm going to print a few of these off and dish them out to a few tech's I know!! Ask them what FOV they need, if DNR is enabled, and what the Lux is likely to be at night and they look at you funny and shrug their shoulders!!! Job well done, thank you.
  18. Thanks for replying so soon. I've had a Bond 1008 sat in the garage for about 7-8months from an old rip-out. Before it was decommissioned I couldnt login using the old 'admin' and the usual 1234/1111/4444, i tried 'dowshu' and 007(which was the norm when I used to install them about 3yrs ago) but never got in. I thought I'd worry about it later... 8months later!!! That is not however the problem!! I've got a job for it tomorrow and thought I'd dig it out... only to find theres a corrupt file on the software hdd!!! I can get as far as booting up the windows domain reconfig thingy(wont boot windows, just hangs) but then asks me for a password... once I can get pass this password sorting the corrupt file should be straight forward. Any ideas
  19. Hi guys/gals, I reinstated a setup yesterday for a guy that had had his DVR unplugged for several months. He also asked if i could configure his DVR for remote viewing, I have asked him to get a static ip address whilst i do my home work. There's no manual with the DVR and it's the 1st Eneo i have worked with. The DVR itself I'd say is an earlier model as i'm getting no luck with Eneos website/downloads. It's a 4ch cream box very very similar to the DLR series but no DVD/CD drive, in the network menu you have only options to change the IP address and subnet mask, or change users password... no mention of ports etc.... The newer Eneo models have 3 or 4 ports to be mapped/opened through the router(like all the DVR's I've previously worked with)... So... are the ports set to default values Is the RAS software a must, these DVR's cannot be viewed using IExplorer web browser Any help or advice would be much appreciated, and thank you in advance for all replies. Regards, ptzguy
