  1. Hi, I did a fresh install of a vista beta and I am having an issue with the webcam. It works fine on my Winxp/IE 6 but when I try to install the active x component in IE 7 / Vista, the active x never seems to load. Multiview also does not work from the web cam page. I am using Geovision 7.02 on a GV-900 card if that matters. Any suggestions? Thanks, RIch
  2. How do I do that? As I mentioned, I went into the internet tools / security tab & changed everything to enable.
  3. This still seems to be an issue with me. I added my servers IP to the trusted zone, I also reset all my security settings to enable (completely unsecure). When I try to start the login (pressing the webcam play button). I get an error message saying: ActiveX Downloading Please Refresh, of course, once i refresh, i get the same error message. Any thoughts?
  4. Hi, I am starting to think about getting a GV1480 as an upgrade for my GV900 card. I was curious if people like that card, what they cost (dealers feel free to pm me), and if PCI or PCI x is the way to go? Thanks, Rich
  5. Rory, Is there a chance of getting the 10 camera view as an option? I just moved from 9 to 10 cameras on my home setup. I either do 9 cameras at a good view or the next step up (16 maybe?) which looks a bit small. Thanks, Rich
  6. The remote view software is so "bulky" its not even funny. Livevue is such a light weight application, the difference is day & night! The 9 view camera setting is excellent indeed. BTW, I am pretty sure you can disable certain cameras from loading in the site settings (just dont check each camera - disable camera 2 for example). I would think Rory could answer that better though.

What do you Suggest ? Raid DVR

I thought raid 0 was the mirror raid & raid 1 was the "performance" raid? If a raid 0 array goes down (one drive dies), its pretty easy to get the array running. Raid 1 (if a drive dies) kills the whole array. Again, I might have that backwards.
  8. So is the issue with IE 7, or Vista & IE 7? Did you try IE 7 on a WinXP machine?
  9. Hi, I was looking at Digitalwatchguard.com at the geovision 16 port DVR card. Is that a RCA? The cameras I am looking at seem to be BNC outputs from the camera. The Geovision looks like it is a RCA male, is that the case? Thanks, Rich
  10. Hi, A few months ago I installed a GV-900 card in my wifes Asus p4pe (845 chipset) PC. It has a 3ghz processor, 1 gig of ram, Nvidia 5400 card. I was getting some serious lag with her PC. I built a 3.2ghz PC overclocked stable to 4ghz. It is a Asus p4w (something brand new), with 2 gigs of ram, & a 150gb raptor hard drive with an ATI X1800 video card. This was smooth as silk. It was also hooked up to a PC monitor downstairs & a 50 inch Plasma TV. I wanted to use the new PC for my own computing instead of a dedicated server. I ended up getting another P4PE mobo, 1 gig of ram, an ATI X800 video card, and a 2.8 ghz intel processor. I just installed windows & the GV system files and I am getting some serious video lag with the recordings again. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rich
  11. Hi, Did Geovision stop supporting Gview for version 8.02? I only see a link for Symbian Smartphone. No other WM5 type phones (Treo, Q). I was looking at the site & no longer see updates for gview on the geovision website. Thanks, Rich
  12. It looks like the program loads the 7100 series gview software (I assume from 7.1 geovision - last update?)
  13. I wonder if it is the same exact gview program as in the 7.0 software?
  14. Hi, I have a GV-900 card & it has 16 channels of video & 4 channels of audio. I am in the process of putting audio in the soon to be baby room. Anyway, I had some questions about how all this works together. I currently have Video channel 1 in the living room and audio channel 1 in the baby room (I just have not swapped the cable yet). When using the webcam on video 1, if I enable the sound, I can hear the sound in the baby room. Whats strange to me is my video logs for video 1 have no sound. I do have an audio1 folder now, but Is there a way to make the video have sound? Also, can I select camera #8 as the video for audio 1, or does it only work as the first 4 channels have audio (cams 1-4)? Thanks, Rich

G-view Remote viewing on Motorola Q

I am not sure why, but when I log in using my Treo, I can see the top of the drop down box, & when I click on it, the names of the cameras are there (camera 1, camera 2, etc), when I scroll up & down, I can see the different camera names. My phone does populate it with text. I am not sure why yours doesnt do the same thing. I am not sure why yours does not do that. It looks to me like Geovision gave up on the Windows Mobile OS, they only have a symbian OS application (did you see a wm5 one?) About your last question - the screen getting cut off, I have the same problem. This is the answer: http://www.nyditot.com/Home.asp However, its not a great answer, when you change the screen size the text doesnt look great (it is readable). Making a 240x240 screen into a 320x screen just doesnt work right. Give it a shot (make sure to install it into main memory & do a backup before so you can restore your old settings using the Free Sprite backup). That will let you see the whole thing but... You will see.
  16. Hi, I was curious, my DVR card has an audio port. I would like to get a "hidden" type of mic for the system. I was thinking maybe a smoke detector mic. I see lots of camera discussion but not really much microphone talk. Is there a good recommendation for a mic? I want to add sound to the baby monitoring setup. Thanks, Rich

    Hidden microphone? Baby Cam

Rory, Could I use Cat5 for the wiring? Would that be safe? I am sure the mic doesnt draw much power but I want to be sure. I know people use cat5 for wiring cameras so I would think it would be OK Thanks, Rich

G-view Remote viewing on Motorola Q

The list gets populated from the PC itself. I would suggest trying to use port 443 (AOL IM port) since its never blocked by ISP's (at least that I know of). Do you get view from the cameras itself when you get to the correct camera?

Is the file your running on the treo called: gview.exe ?

So yours is just blank then? No camera names at all but you can select empty boxes to change cameras?

    Hidden microphone? Baby Cam

Oh, its just going to be one microphone (hidden) in the baby room.

    Hidden microphone? Baby Cam

Whow! I can just use regular telephone cable to run the wiring? That is sweet! I actually have a ton of Cat 5E sitting around here so I might use that just for ease of usage. So, there are three terminals, one power (goes to my 12v DC power rack), one ground, and then one other wire for the mic? How do you work that, just splice an RCA connector at the Geovision server into the 1 wire from the cat5 or the telephone cable? This sounds very very interesting!

    Hidden microphone? Baby Cam

Great! That sounds like its right up my alley. The wording didnt make it seem like it had a RCA/Composite input. Did you just put a RCA end on the cable? Thanks! Rich

    Hidden microphone? Baby Cam

Rory, Do you know if the output from the Verifact series microphones is compatible with the Geovision audio inputs? I see it says that it works with a "Louroe" base station. I like the idea of it looking like a closed off wall plate. Granted, I am using it indoors, but I guess I could paint it though. Thanks, Rich

When you select the box that lets you change cameras, it doesnt have the "name" of the camera? Living room camera = Camera1 & it only says Camera 1? Is that the problem? My screen has the image & at the bottom of the 240x240 treo screen, it has a place where you can click on it & then select up or down & the camera names are there. Can you post a screenshot? Check out treocentral.com & the discussion boards (not Geovision related).
