    Sannce 8Ch security

Check the entry for USERNAME is correctly entered with no spaces no commas etc Some devices will not accept hyphens in a username either so you'd have to set up a email address without one just to use the DVR email notification function.

    HD-TVI test monitor

Take a look at the Genie website. You may find one there. Not sure that you need a specific test monitor for TVI , you do for SDI just no experience of these new transport modes yet, I'm waiting to see which platform prevails ultimately. That will be interesting. Who wants to buy test equipment for each different platform, it would be crazy. I know that is so for CVI as I was told by Security Dynamics and there was a post on here too that you can also use standard baluns with that platform
  3. I am curious why you haven't considered a standalone system? They all come with networkability and so can be viewed via client softwares most of which are very stable and useable. The advantage is that the client softwares can be uninstalle and re installed at any time and if the unit has a decent web interface the system doesn't even need a client application. all it require is a browser, (usually Internet Explorer) on any PC on your network or the internet even. So why an expansion card , is it because thats what you've experience of?

I can be, but he's not who I meant. Most of us know he's at Netbit.

    Inside a Balun

I won't be able to look a balun in the face now knowing I've seen them in their underwear....
  6. NO I wasn't talking about you specifically, I thought I'd made my point ages ago and left it at that... I also decided to try and become more restrainedin my comments as I know I am not perfect either, and don't wish to upset anyone however, if you think the cap fits you, then perhaps you can learn something from that..... This Forum has it's fair share of Techno Bores and also it's fair share of TECHNO TWITS too. I am not saying which category I fall into So what you are saying is that the CORRECT way to do this would be a powered splitter for each channel. (EXPENSIVE) I thought as much However I sometimes allow the client to sit at the main display and view the image and say "left a bit right a bit elevate. lower" etc etc. Obviously a Walkie-Talkie comes in handy too I use a T at the camera then just so I can also view the image, but the T goes with me after I have finished. I had no idea that I was affecting the signal that much though. Thank heavens I never leave them in permanently. One thing about me I am NOT afraid to admit when I don't know something, otherwise I would never progress and I am always willing to learn more. By the way what do you mean by I/P ?
  7. Do you understand why u should not T's video signal ? just curios Not absolutely sure no, (well I am honest about it) but at a guess it reduces the signal? I know that the signal needs to be terminated somewhere but I would like to know the definitive answer...

Is there a dumpster near where you live? Place it in there and buy a new one and DONT lose the password. I am still in touch with the guys that ran KMS components and I can tell you absolutely that there are no firmwares or downloads remaining the receiver deleted them all with the website.
  9. I have very often gotten away with using BNC T's to pass the signal onto a matrix or yet another DVR. It works on most DVRs but not sure about when that would degrade the signal. I haven't viewed it on a scope but I do see a very acceptable image on both DVR output and the matrix output. There are no gaurantees when you try something unconventional, the thing is unless you are one of these techno-bores and have to understand every detail to demonstrate your technical prowess (in short a show-off) SIMPLY SUCK IT AND SEE

Help NeeDed... CCTV wireless system up to 7 miles

Have you got a bucket and spade you can use? What you describe is a project for an experienced engineer not a Maplin one-day-wonder.

Now you gotta da idea, INIT?
  13. Those are identical to the ones I already keep in stock they are very reliable and the push fit terminals work very smoothly especially when used with wire-end ferrules. Thank you for that, it's very reassuring. A compliment coming from you? you made my day!! If you want to take credit for them you're welcome to do so. Just don't ask me to reset your password,,,, ( methinks this does not require explanation?) I buy them from Dynamic in Middlesborough, like everything they sell, they're the tops. I understand that Oprema are also a good solid seller.
  14. if he's logging in wothout reason it will be in the DVR log which you can search to either confirm or dismiss your concerns
  15. To imagine that a CCTV installer has nothing better to occupy his time than to spy on a client's activities, is ridiculous, Most installers retain the admin account to benefit and protect their clients from disaster. However any engineer should return control to you on request so that MIGHT be cause for concern. Change your IP address to a dynamic as has been suggested and get a DDNS account of your own then NOBODY can checkup on your IP address and view your CCTV remotely Buy a new DVR and get a trustworthy installer to set up a DDNS account for you. Some brands come with a FREE DDNS service one such manufacturer is Hikvision Good luck, don't have nightmares.........
  16. Update the firmware and when it asks you to save the setting click NO and it will be at default password and settings
  17. Start powering cameras from a power source with no earth and you are just asking for trouble like earth loops and physical danger Lighting circuits have no earth line normally just a live and neutral but no earth. Don't risk it. Use a low voltage camera 12V DC or 24V AC Power it from a regulated mains transformer.

Reset DVR password to Factory default

If someone stole your smartphone would you like him to reset it to factory default? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620456 Sometime you have problems with your equipment and you have to reset it Thats exactly my point the smartphone industry security is useless

Thats no good reason to make a joke of DVR security. Thieves can overcome locks, that doesn't mean we should make them a gift of the key does it Ewan?

I think you need to get your EARS examined before you start blaming the camera
