I can be, but he's not who I meant. Most of us know he's at Netbit.

Sorry for burining the steak but this one: Talvico LLT-202C will give you a lot of troubles (interferences). Each single piece behaves the same (vertical bars on the screen). The one shown in the first post is superrior and cheaper .I won't be able to look a balun in the face now knowing I've seen them in their underwear....

I think Numb Nuts may be talking about me. So being both a TECHNO-BORE and an instructor bore here we go. Like so many things in life you can do whatever you want until something goes wrong. Like Sunny said if you parallel two devices I/ps you will halve the I/P voltage to each. Actually the I/P voltage will be less than half due to the impedance mismatch as well as a standing wave reducing the source power. This in itself is not usually a problem as most modern DVRs , monitors etc are designed to cater for a wide dynamic source I/P. Phasing interference can also cause problems if the split signal paths are of a reasonable distance. So if the devices are of good design and the signal paths are short then you can probably get away with it.
NO I wasn't talking about you specifically, I thought I'd made my point ages ago and left it at that... I also decided to try and become more restrainedin my comments as I know I am not perfect either, and don't wish to upset anyone
however, if you think the cap fits you, then perhaps you can learn something from that.....
This Forum has it's fair share of Techno Bores and also it's fair share of TECHNO TWITS too. I am not saying which category I fall into
So what you are saying is that the CORRECT way to do this would be a powered splitter for each channel. (EXPENSIVE)
I thought as much However I sometimes allow the client to sit at the main display and view the image and say "left a bit right a bit elevate. lower" etc etc. Obviously a Walkie-Talkie comes in handy too I use a T at the camera then just so I can also view the image, but the T goes with me after I have finished. I had no idea that I was affecting the signal that much though. Thank heavens I
never leave them in permanently.
One thing about me I am NOT afraid to admit when I don't know something, otherwise I would never progress
and I am always willing to learn more.
By the way what do you mean by I/P ?

I have very often gotten away with using BNC T's to pass the signal onto a matrix or yet another DVR. It works on most DVRs but not sure about when that would degrade the signal.
the thing is unless you are one of these techno-bores and have to understand every detail to demonstrate your technical prowess (in short a show-off)
SIMPLY SUCK IT AND SEE
Do you understand why u should not T's video signal ?
just curios
Not absolutely sure no, (well I am honest about it) but at a guess it reduces the signal? I know that the signal needs to be terminated somewhere but I would like to know the definitive answer...

Is there a dumpster near where you live?
Place it in there and buy a new one and DONT lose the password.
I am still in touch with the guys that ran KMS components and I can tell you absolutely that there are no firmwares or downloads remaining the receiver deleted them all with the website.

I love my job so much, I would probably do it for free if I didn't need to make a living.
But what is it you love about your jobs
-
if you try it and it does not work you would need a 1 in 2 out powered splitter probably around 25.00I have very often gotten away with using BNC T's to pass the signal onto a matrix or yet another DVR. It works on most DVRs but not sure about when that would degrade the signal. I haven't viewed it on a scope but I do see a very acceptable image on both DVR output and the matrix output. There are no gaurantees when you try something unconventional,
the thing is unless you are one of these techno-bores and have to understand every detail to demonstrate your technical prowess (in short a show-off)

hey guys.. in the process of moving from a IDT-DVR8 to a IDT-16U (Hd)i switched over my DVR today, turned it on.. worked great.. changed the ip address so i could connect thru my browser, everything was working fine, started messing with the phone app (this is where i went wrong) didnt relize i needed to get a different app... one thing led to another and i changed the orginal password of Admin with 5 zeros to Five ones
(at least this is my take on it)
ive copied the user 1 profiles password with the admin profile and now im locked out of the system
i cant change users i cant change settings i cant connect from the browser or phone,
Im completely locked out
I need a HARD reset bios reset procedure... removing the battery doesn't do it,
there is one on board push button that i can see.. and pressing that just restarts it..
I know its not been reset because it has still retained my ip address and network config that i gave it as well as the name that i named it,
IDT-16u
S/N MH6UPB1302753
(if needed i can get board numbers as well)
i cant find anything anywhere on this unit.
Try six digits instead of five please

Have you got a bucket and spade you can use?
What you describe is a project for an experienced engineer not a Maplin one-day-wonder.

Ah ok!I Will study to learn english man humor (I think its too hard for an italian.)
Humor apart, no one can help me to recover/reset password (the pc motherboards have a simple jumper to reset the BIOS paasword, a similar procedure could be enough).
Now you gotta da idea, INIT?

These are the ones I have used before with CVI with no problemshttp://www.dh-vision.com/index.php/accessories/connectors-converters/dh-vbp-101.html
Those are identical to the ones I already keep in stock they are very reliable and the push fit terminals work very
smoothly especially when used with wire-end ferrules.
Thank you for that, it's very reassuring.
A compliment coming from you? you made my day!!
If you want to take credit for them you're welcome to do so.
Just don't ask me to reset your password,,,, ( methinks this does not require explanation?)
I buy them from Dynamic in Middlesborough, like everything they sell, they're the tops.
I understand that Oprema are also a good solid seller.

if he's logging in wothout reason it will be in the DVR log which
you can search to either confirm or dismiss your concerns

Thanks for the info! He has set up 3 admin accounts, all have access to all cameras and playback.HE has the passwords for the admin accounts. I guess the only alternative is to get them from him?
I set up my own admin but couldn't erase his without passwords.
Creepy huh? Or do all installers allow themselves such access?
To imagine that a CCTV installer has nothing better to occupy his time than to spy on a client's activities, is ridiculous,
Most installers retain the admin account to benefit and protect their clients from disaster.
However any engineer should return control to you on request so that MIGHT be cause for concern.
Change your IP address to a dynamic as has been suggested and get a DDNS account of your own then NOBODY can checkup on your IP address and view your CCTV remotely Buy a new DVR and get a trustworthy installer to set up a DDNS account for you. Some brands come with a FREE DDNS service one such manufacturer is Hikvision
Good luck, don't have nightmares.........

Update the firmware and when it asks you to save the setting click NO and it will be at default password and settings

Start powering cameras from a power source with no earth and you are just asking for trouble like earth loops and physical danger
Lighting circuits have no earth line normally just a live and neutral but no earth. Don't risk it.
Use a low voltage camera 12V DC or 24V AC Power it from a regulated mains transformer.

If someone stole your DVR would you ask us to help them get past your password? If someone stole your smartphone would you like him to reset it to factory default?

Sometime you have problems with your equipment and you have to reset it
Thats exactly my point the smartphone industry security is useless

Your dog?I asked for something that I could not ask?
Pease be more clear.
Thanks
We English have a strange sense-of-humour many other nationalities cannot understand, don't be worried or concerned about it.
-
Sorry, I don't understand (my english is not very well).Nor is my dog!

I do not need to reset the password remotly, I completly disinstalled the DVR and the camera. I would like to reuse theDVR in other installation scenario. But... I lost the password.
Heard em all before...

Thats no good reason to make a joke of DVR security.
Thieves can overcome locks, that doesn't mean we should make them a gift of the key does it Ewan?
-
I think you need to get your EARS examined before you start blaming the camera

PERMISSIONS?
Advice on a new decent 16 channel DVR card please?
in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Posted
I am curious why you haven't considered a standalone system? They all come with networkability and so can be viewed via client softwares most of which are very stable and useable. The advantage is that the client softwares can be uninstalle and re installed at any time and if the unit has a decent web interface the system doesn't even need a client application. all it require is a browser, (usually Internet Explorer) on any PC on your network or the internet even.
So why an expansion card , is it because thats what you've experience of?
