Need 2 Camera System only Please Recommend

You could probably get something like a night-owl or q-see system with no HDD for about 150, and get 2 outdoor cameras with IR for about 60$ a piece, won't be the worlds best equipment but will fall within your price range. I don't know where you are located, but I could recommend some stuff for you. Dont forget you will need cabling and power supplies and all that fun stuff, it adds cost too.

CCTV Equipment Selection Help - IP-PoE-NVR

Hikvision has some great sales on right now that should fall within your requirements and needs. http://secsecur.ca/promos/ Those are my prices I can not comment on what others are charging.
  3. I prefer to use cable clips: http://worldwidesatellites.com/aluminum-dual-drop-wire-clips-p-488.html They are also available in a plastic clip with a nail.

    Smartphone app limit??

Your big factor here is going to be upload speed, as you will need to upload the images to the net for live viewing, what is their internet connection like?

    Motion Over Detection

Sounds like your problem is the IR on the camera triggering false alerts, so chances are you are going to have the same issue on a Q-See system.

Help with this DVR and who made it

Have you tried cracking that bad boy open and taking a look inside? Usually there is useful info inside such as serial and part numbers, if not the name of the manufacture. If you want to try and reset it look inside for a battery and pull it, leave it out for 24 hours and see if that fixes things.

    Retail Store Design

First off don't go wireless, you will most likely be disappointed. Next cheap and feature packed usually don't go together. If you can't find an NVR with 2 months of storage for 2 cameras you are going to have a problem. For about 6-700$ you should be able to get a 4CH 500GB NVR with 2 2.1MP cameras. You could of course also skip the NVR and go with a camera which does SD card recording.

Looking for an adaptable DVR - or an alternate solution

Call up the DVR manufacture and see if they have any publicly available API's for interfacing software with their systems. Another option would be to have the DVR FTP the stills to an FTP site and work with them from there.

    Drive array

Follow the wireguys advice, he is going down the right road, you will want hot swapbale with hot spare(s). Also I suggest using server drivers, which are meant to stand up to this type of abuse, not just any desktop hard drive. Also you now have to think 2 years is a long time, what if the building burns down? Do they require offsite storage? If so how are you going to handle that?

    IP CCTV Installation Queries

First off lets start with some basics, number one being the distance limitation as per the standards on ethernet is 100M or 300FT, I have seen it go to 400 or so feet fine, depending on interference and other factors, but I doubt you will get it to 600FT. You could install multiple switches to cover the distance, or go fiber the choice is yours. Next, you will need a router, most switches are layer 2 and handle MAC addressing, they do not hand out IP addresses, you need a router to handle this for you. You can use any type of switch you want, but I would suggest getting a POE switch and connecting your cameras to that, or you are going to have to buy POE injectors. If you don't want to daisy chain switches you can use range extenders, however these are usually costly, so switches would be your best bet. I would suggest you hire someone to draft up the plans for you, then you can decide if you want to undertake a project or this extent.
  12. I hate to tell you no CCTV, alarm, or access control system can stop someone from harming you, they can act as a strong deterrent but can not stop. Being able to call the police would be a great option to have, however the police usually only show up to late. I don't know how you feel about firearms, and usually I don't advocate people turn to firearms for the sole purpose of self defense, however this seems like this may be a viable option should you find yourself in a situation where you are up against 1 or more combative assailants.
  13. What is your intended application? Compare the specs and determine which best fits your application, that is the best brand for you.

    DISTRIBUTORS??

ADI usually has everything I want/need, or they can get it for me, their markups are probably higher then you are expecting. They usually have good sales if you watch and snap things up at the right time.

Lorex 8 Channel HD SDI Security System

Can you post a picture of the cameras at night time? Also you don't mention if the cameras are using true Day/Night or IR for their night picture.
  16. You should have no issues findings an 8 or 16 channel DVR with andriod remote viewing, almost all have it today. As for the sun, many bullet cameras have sun shades which can help solve this problem, and you can either go IR or true day/night. I just purchased several cameras that were rated down to -40 Celsius I believe. (have to double check). The other option would be to use box cameras inside a housing with a heater and blower.

    Simple surveillance system in BUS

I would suggest spending some good money and go with a solution that will work and help reduce theft, and make passengers feel more secure. Axis makes some great mobile products perfect for deployment on a bus.

    Lorex and swan

Good, yes I am sure they are good, depending on what you want to use them for. You have to tell us about your intended application for use to tell you if they are good cameras for you. And what isn't made in china?
  21. One the more expensive model, you have more built in features, slightly higher TVL, dual voltage, RS485 remote setup. It has some bells and whistles the other camera does not, then again I never really trust what people put on ebay, as everyone and there mother claims their DVR is a D1 real time. You are also paying for the name and someones markup on the more expensive one, not always a bad thing as I like to be able to return things when they don't work, try that on ebay. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, will you be happy with the camera off ebay perhaps I don't know if you want all the extra features or easy return, its up to you.

    1 camera rule them all.

Do not agree about T connector wrong ! I never said it was the best way to do it or that it should be done, was merely stating it can be done, I have never done it as I would upsell a system with looping outputs but I don't think his system has looping outputs.

    Cost

I hate when people think we shouldn't make a living installing CCTV systems, they complain they don't understand how to do it themselves, then they complain when they have to pay an hourly install rate. Not saying this was the case with you just speaking in general here.

Need D1 camera with outstanding night visibility

I don't know about you but where I buy my equipment from they offer the correct specs with manufacture documents to back it up. D1 doesn't have so much to do with the camera, it is referring to the DVR's ability to record at a specific resolution at 30 FPS. Your requirements sound like you need to go IP cameras and get some megapixel cameras. Dare I say it is you who doesn't understand the specs as they are presented rather then the specs being presented being incorrect?

Questions about choosing the right camera

To do what you are talking about can be done, and it can be done in several ways, if you want truely wireless with remote view and remote power and PTZ and all that, get out your wallet, you are looking at 10 000$ or more. Now depending on the distance say if you want to locate said camera in the woods 500ft from your house then you can cable it all back to your house, do a search its been done a couple times on here, and one person had great pics to go with it. For remote power and remote view on a budget, you would need some deep cycle batteries, a solar charger, a router, an IP camera and connectors.
