  1. When you choose No-ip in the Dvr it will auto fill some things. Leave that, most especially what it auto inputs in the domain name and port 80. Your host name does not go there, nor does 37777. For the other fields, put in your No-ip ip information. Your username and password are what you actually sign into your noip account when you visit noip online. The domain name should be your custom No-ip address. In dmss, port is 37777 and user name and password is not the 88... password you use at the Dvr. It's the admin password, typically admin/admin if you haven't changed it.

  2. Even though that compact portable monitor looks very cool, I would suggest you grab a 19" on sale for the purpose. Dvr's and nvr's don't really support anything less than 17" monitors now, at least in my experience. I tried a 15" on a dahua Dvr and the dvr didn't know what to do with it- the screen was a hazy mess. Since most people use 19" as a minimum these days, it would also help the customer should they decide to put their own monitor on down the line. The Dvr will already be looking for one.

  3. There is a retailer in the US that carries what you want for 400. Can't mention the name here though. If you're in the states, it's a MUCH better way to go. But if you're loading up the nvr fully with 3mp cameras, this nvr may force low frame rates and resolution. It shows only 40mbps throughput. Unless of course the one I'm looking at is different than the one you seek.

  4. I'm not at all clear how you want to integrate the Dvr and the nvr. You want the higher resolution of the nvr to be the primary recording. It will provide your best footage. Don't hobble it with lower resolution just because it needs more hard drive space for recording. Buy an nvr appropriate for your needs- one with the appropriate amount of hard drive capacity. Your plan seems backwards to me. If anything, the high resolution footage is the primary and the D1(or lower) footage is for secondary.

  5. I believe you only need to concern yourself with forwarding the web port and TCP port for typical remote viewing. For dmss, you only need to put in 37777, your custom No-ip host name, your login in, and password. For web service online, you'll typically need to browse to your custom No-ip host name and if you changed port 80 in the Dvr and forwarded the new port, you'll need to include that on the end of you No-ip address with :81 for example, or whatever you changed it to. Also make sure you set and enable your Dvr to use noip as well.

  6. ^^Yep.

I just bought the dahua 4208-8P from amazon

I have only done a quick network set up and general set up and got one 1080p camera in line to make sure all is well. Next I will drop two 3tb purple drives in. It takes a max of two 4tb drives for 8tb total. The firmware is current to 4/14 and it came new in box. It will surely spank the hikvision in terms of horsepower, having the highest throughput I've seen at 200mbps. It's got typical dahua offerings on the back that I always consider a must, such as alarm in/out and 485. What's really remarkable is that I have an analog ptz that I still love, as well as having spent money last year for a dahua dvr. Instead of yanking that out, for the time being before I invest in an IP PTZ, I imported that ptz channel into an nvr channel and amazingly, I have full control of the ptz including menu. Importing other remote device units into the nvr is a seriously sweet feature, imo. I also like that remote device has more camera control now, so even though you have a camera hooked up to the internal poe, you can still tweak most all color/picture management, apply day/night period schedule, flip, mirror, etc. The GUI in these new units has a bit of a different look but it's still very familiar if you're a dahua user.

But as milkisbad mentioned, all bets are off with 3rd party cameras behaving as you want, in spite of ONVIF, and that goes for the hikvision unit too I would think. That's a gamble. I'd sooner go strictly dahua cameras. There are SO many cameras from them and new ones coming down the pike all the time, personally I see no need to go with anything else. But because you have a bunch of geovision cameras, you'd probably be better off sticking with that brand for the nvr.

  7. Have you forwarded 2000 and 2002? Have a read and see if this will help you. Also if nothing else works, look in their firmware update files for your dvr. It may be that the firmware for your dvr needs to be updated to be compatible for viewing in the mobile app. In my experience, updating the E-series dvr from them was painless- very easy.

Also, don't be shy about calling them for support. They may help you even if you have a used unit. MDVR app is rather underwhelming. Try Radius as well- much better than IE but a bit more complex.

  8. Hi all

second thread as newbie - HAve a pretty well working Hik NVR, but have not figured out how to input No-IP DDNS information.

The NVR asks for: Server Address

    Domain

    user name

    password

If my no-ip account has a host name of somename@no-ip.biz

Would Somename@no-ip.biz be the server name or would it be no-ip.bi

    What would Domain be?

    Server address - dynupdate.no-ip.com

Domain - your custom noip address

User name and password are what you use for your account

Try that. That's what it says in my dahua network setup.

  9. If MDVR hasn't changed, it does not compare to dmss at all. I used the OE3-E480 and it was or still is their best analog unit. The OP did say analog. About 2k [outrageous] and it can't do D1 30fps on all channels. That to me is old spec compared to todays analog dvr standards. I have no experience with their hybrids or IP systems. No experience with Everfocus stuff either.

  10. I've used openeye, one of their best analog Dvr's. My employer hired an installer and that's what they put in. Along the way, I took over managing the system. My experience was only so-so. Their units are way over priced and under powered compared to what you can get from dahua, for example. And the first unit died and had to be replaced. Customer service for that transaction was not heroic. Okay, but not heroic. Their mobile app is woefully behind dmss for dahua units. Frankly there aren't any mobile apps I had tried that can match dmss. Openeye Web app for their Dvr's is functional but nothing special. Radius software is better but more complex. Openeye isn't bad but I've used both extensively and compared to dahua it comes up short big time.
