HD-SDI over RG59 Coax and Baluns

HI, I have just tested the HD-SDI over Coax and have got 130 metres on RG59 with 3MP cameras running 1080P. Seems very nice alternative to IP and Analogue... Especially for some plug and play Installers. Have not tested on a balun yet as the HD baluns are a few months away yet. Prices are not that bad either but limited to 16ch for the time being as the DVR has to Encode from the cameras and does draw allot of power. www.webgateinc.com ( They OEM the Samsung DVR's by the look of things ) All in all..... Not that bad Thanks MM
  5. HI, I have used the ACTi software before and found it was processor Hungry and I would hate to be tied done to the one camera manufactuer... I am not a Acti fan as had the dealership for 12 months with 20% failure rates.... I am a SONY dealer now but agree about using encoders any brand is fine as long as they work with the software. Exacq is also a good system but you need to downgrade the firmware of most cameras to work with exacq so not a fan of that.... Either way as technology changes don't tie your customer into one company and use a company like Milestone, Exacq for software and then you can use whomever you choose or the enviroment chooses for IP Cameras.. Thanks MM

HD-SDI over RG59 Coax and Baluns

Hi, I am also testing a unit that Shany has that can send the Video/Data/Power down the one coax cable and it seems to be working pretty good.... I have not seen the HD-DVR yet but I have been told it is processor hungry as allo the encoding is done at the DVR.... I have to admit the images are sensational and latency from the camera is almost non existant.... I agree it is a niche market but for all the no tech guys that like to plug and play like analogue this is a pretty good solution. Have not tested over HDMI baluns yet but will do over the next few weeks and keep you posted.... MM

HD-SDI over RG59 Coax and Baluns

HI, Thanks for the information and we are looking at either of the following cameras. http://www.shany.com/all.asp?fname=p03-0b ( Cameras Only ) http://www.webgateinc.com/wgi_htdocs/eng/product/zboard.php?id=wgi_eng&category=8 ( Cameras and DVR ) I agree with you abou using the correct cable but honestly most HD-SDI jobs will be retro fits and have cable already installed from previous Installations.... This is the part that scares me as when people quote a job it is all dependant on the cable quality.... I am going to do some testing here today and will keep you informed... Also we are goiing to try using HDMI baluns over CAT5... Anyone have anty thoughts and again will let you know the results http://www.utpbalun.com/hdmi.php Thanks MM
  8. Hi, Yeah you can use DLINK and Netgear for the smaller jobs but I would be re-thinking them on the larger scale jobs... Most People worry to much about the power of the switch rather then the throughput of waht it can handle.... Remeber you can have 23 MP cameras pushing all that data over the one CAT5 cable and into the NVR... Throughput is important to remember and also not all vendors are happy to tell you the throughput as they know it is pretty poor.... http://www.lantronix.com/resources/net-tutor-switching.html This is give you a idea and maybe help you select a switch to use or confuse you eben more like it did me... I would also look at Korenix, PLanet as they both make good switches. MM
  9. Hi, Does anyone know if Exacq will Intergrate with Mobotix in the near future.. We have a few jobs with 50-100 cameras and Milestone software but we are looking to upgrade and use Exacq. I don't think the customer is willing to change cameras though Let meknow if anyone knows Cheers MM
  10. I have used them a fair bit and find that they work fairly welll... I have on some jobs with the camereas only being allowed to be used in certain positions and angles tht I have had to go with JPEG to get the Number Plates.. I have not used any ANPR software yet but no there are some good ones on the market so can't help you there. Basically the CH models are fine but more important is the camera position. MM
  11. Hi, Just finsihed has a show and saw a SONY product HD Hybrid over COAX. This camera is a IP signal that can run 500 Metres over RG59 coax cable out of the camera and on a sony decoder that outputs a IP and Analogue signal. This is signal is 720p and very little latency over the 300M they had it displaying on... Also as the processing is done at the camera the processor in the sever is not being chewed up by encoding. I would have to say for any retrofit jobs this is the solution and not HD-SDI.... Sony can run 16 cameras over a ATom processor, lets see HD-SDI do that... This is also a patient product for the next 2 years and you will see this move very quickly in the market. Best products at the SHOW by far. I think there are a few whit papers floating arund and I suggest you look into this. MM

New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax

Yep... I agree you have to win the job first.. I guess I am lucky with my clients that arn't worried to much on price rather then Quality and what's specified and I know all the consultants.. Different strokes for different blokes I guess.. Good conversation I like to hear opinions. MM

New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax

Yeah I know HDSDI and we are offering that for the smaller retro fits but let's get out of the smaller jobs and talk some Bigger jobs.. Like shopping centers with 60 cameras and they want analytics etc.. Also the HDSDI is power hungry as the DVR does the encoding, Whilst Sony can run 16 cameras on a Atom processor.. I agree HDSDI has a place but is still to prove itself.. Lets see HDSDI do what IP can do with acesss control integration, Video Analytics.. Look at http://www.shany.com for HDSDI as well they are very good and OEM small quality for you. MM

New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax

Agreed, But on a job that already has RG59 cable run and you and two people are quoting, I think using this will win more jobs then some one who had to recable.. In my opinion I will win more jobs then guys who have to pull cat6 day as labour is the most expensive part of any job... Surely you have to agree with that and we are all about making money. MM

New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax

Yeah the cheap stuff has its place and am sure liquor store owners don't spend big money on cameras like my clients do, so hence your comments have a point.. Guess not to many people hold up shopping centers or mines now days but sure do liquor stores.. I guess we are off topic and what o mean is the Sony cameras give HD over 300m RG59.. Surely people can acknowledge that is a good for retro fits ax existing ore cabled installs. MM

New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax

Maybes have a read of the whitepaper before Commenting people.. Do you even know how the transmission works and how it records... Take off your HDSI hats and our back on your IP hats.. It recorders via VMS software and via encoders. Also the price us between quality analogue and IP not the cheap stuff some people claim are good... MM

New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax

Not really sure where you guys get your information from as this is new Sony release only a few weeks ago.. Obviously as well are mis guided on the benefits as well.. Let me ask you this? Let's say your customer wants a 26 camera install, how will HD-SDI do this without a super server to process the broadcast trans from the camera? Also the price is between Analogue and IP, we all have to admit IP is cheap at the moment.. So Maybe you are talking bout something else not the sony hybrid camera.. Sony in 12 months will release this on all cameras including PTZ and Full HD.. HD-SDI is ok but think about it on larger installs and also he price is still expensive for now. MM
  19. Depending on the cameras you are using it would depend on the NAS device... I normally use Synology with Mobtoix as I find they sync well and have less read write errors. QNAP works well with some of the lower end cameras I have found but I try not to use them as much anymore. Qnap is OK but I would use SYNOLOGY. MM
  20. I tell you what... I would put the SONY CH-140 against the Axis camera any day of the week... In fact Axis use Sony chipsets in the axis cameras but don't have the pin configurations for the low light and WDR of the sony camera The Best I have seen in Low light and also WDR. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py7LWPlmac0 Cheers MM

New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax

The price is between ip and analogue.. Also HD-SDI will never be able to be a true retrofit due to cables and the quality of the cables used. Sony HD is in my option a better solution then HD SDI will be affordable to the smaller install market as well. I guess we will see how the markets accepts them both but for larger installs I don't think HD SDI has the name or is even proven in the market yet!!! We'll see but interesting times ahead. MM
  22. Hi, I have a large guard company looking to go for Video Analytics over static guards due and have asked me to put a proposal togeather.. Currently we use Exacq and some Miletone as our VMS and also wanted to use a software analytics over hardware due to being a SONY Solution provider and wanting to use SONY Cameras. ( yes I know they have DEPA but the Realshot is not the best VMS around and the need a easy to use solution. ) Can anyone recommend me a solution and the facts behind their choice as well. Thanks MM

    Video Analytics Solution

Hi, I don't think they offer a software solution only hardware and I already have the as cameras I mentioned. Thanks MM
  24. The cameras ate good but the Sony VMS is not all that, thanks god they make good cameras, Also the software is not dual streaming.. But the cameras are hmmm.. Also the X series cameras are ok for well lite areas but no Good at night. Any questions Let me know. MM
  25. Yeah but then you have to deal with Bosch as they own them... No Thanks....
