  1. Holy crap. I'm getting closer. I got it to work on my phone using our wifi network.... Once I found out the correct Ip... I had that wrong. So when I change from Wifi to 4Glte it does not connect. When It was working on the Wifi(lan) I had the server address as my computers IP in the Mobil app. But now that I switched off the wifi(lan) to strictly 4G (and not in the home network) it won't connect. I changed the IP address on the mobil app from the computer to my public ip and it still won't connect. I know i'm close... So close! I also put in the router's IP for the server address and it still won't connect.
  2. At one time in the past yes, but not currently. It won't allow me to change that port 80 to anything else when I choose http. I'm guessing I need to swap to port range forwarding then because of this correct. Edit: So when I switch to Port range forwarding, Here is what I have. It will only allow me to change the last bit of the ip address. So those would be my cameras correct? So I need to go down and put all 4 cameras in correct? Right now I just have the one as you can see. However, When I try doing that and then hitting save I get this message and it won't allow it. If i go back to single port forwarding and go down where I can manually put in the ports, I get this message. I've read those links and obviously it isn't clicking in my head. My internal port is 80, Right? And Milestone uses 8081, Right? So wouldn't I need to forward port 80 to 8081? Let me start with how the linksys router is setup. Maybe I have something wrong in there....
  3. From my understanding With a POE Switch, you plug your cameras into the POE switch to get power. (Power Over Ethernet) So yes, your cameras go to the POE switch, and then a single cable comes down to the NVR. If you buy a 16chan NVR, it doesn't matter how many POE ports there are if you use a switch. The NVR Should have a gigabit connection for the cable, so you could use a 16chan poe switch. The Cat5e cable is only capable of 1000Mbps of data. I don't recall the amount of data those cameras use. If you exceed this amount you may have to use cat6 cable. Someone else will chime in and make sure I'm correct I hope, because I'm pretty sure this is right but let's make sure.
  4. Alright so I've gone through, and I must be confused on the IP addresses or the ports. But I took some screen shots of what everything looks like. Also my linksys router wont let me forward each ip address for the port 80. I numbered these for easy reference. 1 2 3 4 5. but then this doesn't show anything happening for some reason. 6 So everytime I put these in like this and try to hit save, it says this is already set and they go blank... 7 Do I have my ip addy's backwards? I'm suppose to put my public ip there where I did right.
  5. I'm going to work out each step and see where I get and I'll come back... Right now if I put my public ip in, it connects to a specific hik cam.
  6. Thank you very much I'll try this when I get home tomm. Anything I have trouble with I will screen shot and post, and I will gladly send you something for the help. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with this system.... A few things I know of before going home, SmartClient, Log in credentials are still the default admin and 12345 because when I try changing them it won't let me access it, saying server address wrong. To fix this I uninstalled and reinstalled and it stays with the defaul log in stuff.... Next, When im in the management application and trying to set up the server information I have ny local IP, and then the internets IP that I find using check my ip. I only have Management application and SmartClient, I don't need the mobile app on my desktop right, just on my phone. I'll continue this when I get home tomm. I'm on shift ( 24hr ) so unable to do anything from work. I also couldnt find a link for hikvision IVMS 4200, desktop application...
  7. I have x protect go, their free software. I've never had an issue (Aside from linking to cell phone) until recently i can't log on to my smart client, or even the management application. Smart client tells me server adress is wrong. Management application says failed log in. I never changed the login or pw. so I don't know what the issue is. I'm considering just uninstalling it all and reinstalling it all. since it was free it's not a huge deal.... THanks
  8. There are a few members here that will be glad. I just purchased (2) 4mm 3MP Hikvision bullets. After I play with those a little but I'll order a few more. Just want to see if I like the 4mm over the 6/12. As far as software I guess either BlueIris or Xprotectgo On my Intel i7 custom tower.

I plan on doing at least reinforced front and rear door on my next house. Selling the one im in currently. I'll have to see how to reinforce the garage door. (Actual garage door, 19ft wide) There is also a door into my garage, I'll have to reinforce that one too.

Losing the argument on the baby monitor

IQ = Image Quality. Is it pretty detailed, or barely able to make anything out. Just curious, still have a couple years before needing one. lol Edit: I guess looking at reviews I would have answered my own question. Here's an uploaded photo of it. Seems pretty good. Better placement should yield better quality.

Only problem with bars on windows and doors is incase of a fire. But, it's a catch 22 I guess.
  15. So I've been using my Hik 3MP bullets for awhile now, using free MileStone Xprotect Go smart client as the nvr software. I want to get my cams on my phone and I haven't gotten into this side of it before. Port fowarding, etc.... I've tried to search and watch some youtube videos but not much luck. Since I'm using milestone xprotect, should I use milestones specific app? I haven't ever changed any of the settings, not even the username and password on the software. Or would I be better off with just an ip cam viewer type app. I've been looking for a step by step. I've never even tried this side of the cctv stuff. Thanks.

Getting my cams to my phone.

Does Milestone have support chat? I tried finding it through their website and couldn't. 930 miles away, I wish I had gotten the mobile app working.

Getting my cams to my phone.

now the mobile app won't connect even though I'm putting exactly what it says. server name: Server, and the port, 8080 User details: User and password I set up as one of the users. It worked before.... makes no sense why it won't now, via wifi.

Getting my cams to my phone.

I just set in my router to forward 8080 from external to internal. My Public IP address is different than the IP address it shows when I check in cmd on my computer. Which one should I be using. My DVR is my computer so how would that work. Sorry, I know I sound pretty damn dumb but when it comes to this networking side I havent done it before. Here's my setup... If it helps at all. Internet comes in through cable, Connects to Model supplied by Internet/TV provider, Feeds to Wifi Router, Router Feeds to 1. My Computer, 2. POE switch upstairs where all the cameras are connected to. Damnit, now my mobile app isn't connecting, even on wifi. OK settings I have in Milestone Central Communication Enabled, Username/Password, Port:8080 Server access: Server Name:* Localport:80, Internet adress:What I found in CMD, Longer than plublic ip, InternetPort:8080, Access amount allowed 1. (Free won't let me do more than 1 person) Users: I have this all set up with username and password and everything is allowed to be accessed. All box's checked. Servers: Mobile Servers: Blank... I guess free doesn't get this option.

Getting my cams to my phone.

Ok thanks. So I'm leaving for vacation tomm and I'm really trying to set all this up this evening. Is there a video I haven't found that goes step by step to set it all up? I dont' know why I'm not getting it but I'm not understanding which ports need to be what. And on my router which ports to forward. Setting up for mobile view via their app.. Example: In that last photo, I put my ip addy in, but what port is it suppose to be? I'm watching all their online videos trying to sort it all out. Thanks

Ok so I'm working on setting it all up... I'm here, but don't know what to put in. When I log into smart client I still use the defualt log in and pw. Issue?
  24. The tree guys were very interested in the hik 3mp bullets once they spotted them. lol I had them cutting some tree's down so I aimed it higher than normal while they did. Screen shots. Camera is up about 18ft, then their probably 20ft out from the house. Does two things. 1. Makes me giggle 2. Makes me wish I had audio...
