Turret or eyeball cameras are a better choice because of possible ir reflection, in my opinion. A clear plastic dome exposed to sunlight can cloud up over time. For better night vision, look at Dahua Starlight cameras, or Hikvision ultra lowlight cameras.

So, you removed the filter and the video is purple? Put the filter back on and see if it corrects. One common reason for purple video is a stuck ir cut filter. Sometimes tapping on the side of camera will fix that. Or try manually switching between day and night to "jar" it loose.

They will most likely see the 930nm light, just not as well. You will need roughly double the wattage output over 850nm lighting. Or as Tom posted the 930nm puts out half of the 850nm lighting.

Jimbo, your cameras should be able to see the invisible, 930nm lighting. You will need roughly twice as much wattage for the 930nm lighting as the 850nm your camera currently uses. Try a google search for 850nm vs 930nm ir lighting.

Smitty pointed out a good one. You don't want varifocal, it won't pan or tilt, and the zoom is very slow and meant for initial setting up.

I too have the AT&T with the Pace router. The problem is the Pace router prevents loopback connections. One way to bypass that is witha VPN. If you don't have a VPN, use Opera browser. http://www.opera.com/computer/features/free-vpn

All four of those worked for me on my lan,using browser, no password needed.

I believe hikvision does not warranty the cameras, the seller/distributer does. Some sellers will tell you not to update the camera, that is one tipoff that it is a "hacked" camera. You can find a list of approved distributers sellers at the Hikvision site. It is somewhat confusing.

Yes, Hikvision makes good cameras. From that buyer they may be "hacked" to English cameras with firmware that may not be upgradeable, and/or you may not have much of a warranty. But you can save some money, possibly enough to buy an extra camera for a spare and still be ahead of the game. If night vision is important, look at the Hikvision ultra low light cameras, they cost a little more but worth it.

Just a guess, but I would think power supply problem, if they have ir lighting. The lights come on, drawing a little more power that is unavailable and off one goes.

It is usually built in to the camera, but look at a software named Ispyconnect.

I have an old DS-2CD2132-I that was being set back to default every couple of days. I finally un-forwarded the port and it stopped. Try blocking your camera from internet access.

So you have no router? In that case you should contact your isp.

That was my only idea. There was a hi3518 camera named the TOP 201 (I believe) that had a reset tool, possibly googling will find it. The TOP 201 sold under $25, so you might want to think about wasted time to resurrect that camera.

If I remember correctly, Empire cameras default ip address was 192.168.1.10. Can you access the cameras through your computer avoiding the nvr? Try it using Chrome browser with ie tab, or try ONVIF device manager. CMS software came with it originally.

Can you/did you forward the proper ports?

Have you tried ONVIF device manager from sourceforge?
