  1. It won't run on edge, and might run on internet explorer if you enable activex in internet options/security settings. Your best bet is Chrome browser with ie tab extension.

Analogue camera has poor night time quality

Then it could possibly be ir reflection? Is there anything close by, a wall or overhead that could be reflecting ir light? One way to tell is turning off the camera ir lighting leaving it in night mode, and turning the external ir light on.

I would say not enouh ir light outside. You could try an exterior ir light, Cmvision I believe is an affordable brand.
  4. Just about any ip security camera that uses sd cards and has motion detection should work, including wifi. Just don't set up the wifi if it has got that capability. You wll still need to power the camera, and a way to set it up, like a computer with an ethernet cord. If recording all the time, instead of using motion detection, you will need a big sd card.
  5. One of the ways to avoid having to forward your IP Camera ports and opening to the public internet is by using VPN (Virtual Private Network). If you are connected to your own VPN in your home network, you’ll be able to access the IP Cameras just by using local address securely. This also means your traffic between your device and your camera is encrypted. https://www.codingepiphany.com/2015/02/10/easy-secure-home-ip-camera-access-with-your-own-vpn/
  6. Update your firmware, and change your passwords. Your dvr is probably made by Dahua, but use Lorex firmware, more here. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/en/us/best-practices.php
  7. A lot of people are having success with the PaleMoon browser. https://www.palemoon.org/
  8. Another option is to look into the Pale Moon browser. Good luck
  9. I agree with the GadgetDude. Be sure to go into IE internet options/security and allow activeX controls. under If you want try Chrome with IE tab, that is what works for me.
  10. You would use the VPN secure connection INSTEAD OF port forwarding to access your system. Your app should still work. Hikvision is very vulnerable right now, so possibly new firmware will help.
  11. Yes, if ports are forwarded, unforward them. With Hikvision, it depends on the model/where you bought it. There are/was Chinese versions being sold by vendors on Al*express and eb*y with hacked to English firmware that may brick your system. If possible, get new firmware from the vendor you bought it from.
  12. It may be getting hacked. https://ipvm.com/reports/hik-default-hack Block it from the internet and see if it stops. A firmware update may fix it, but there is always risk in that with Hikvision.
  13. If both support the ONVIF protocol it should work.
  14. A router that supports VPN server is the best way. Some brands/models have built in VPN servers. Encrypted connection, no port forwarding needed. A VPN service like hidemyarse is different and won't work.
  15. Try admin with password as the camera MAC address with no separators.
  16. Did you try the SADP tool from Hikvision? It may see/be able to configure the cameras.

Escam mini NVR, and sricam IP camera

It is best to use the same brand on systems. You won't be happy with either brand in the long run.
  18. BlueIris is about 60 bucks but has a trial version. It supports a lot of cameras. Milestone has a free version.
  19. If it can be done, it is done from the camera (most of the time).
  20. If the cameras have ir lighting, it probably is reflecting back from the glass. Turn ir lighting off and add outside ir lighting if possible.

    I can't believe it

Good for a dashcam, but how about some security type night footage? Something like this.

    Setting up a wireless system.

Rick, wireless is not considered reliable for security, it will fail/miss at the wrong time. Do a forum search for "solar", there are several threads on solar powered.

Great video! If flowers ever try to break into my home, I'll have the evidence. " title="Applause" /> Why not something useful, like night time video with someone moving?

    Night image problems

Yes, by white light I mean artificial regular lighting, not IR. Are your cameras Dahua or Hikvision? Some cheaper cameras have the good low light sensors, but just don't perform as well. How does the motion look when set to black and white at night? More light could be the only answer for color at night.
