hmm, it will be at either 15 or 30FPSaudio for a few cameras
Actions scenes? well, I really do not know. cus the around 20 of the cameras will be pointing a the plants, not sure if motion detection will work well as the plant grows through the night.
around 9 hours will be in the night, completely dark.
We don't necessary need streaming directly to the phone or other mobile devices, but would be great to have. I have check the bandwidth we have later.
I really do not know what to expect to spend, but seems to me CCTV is very justifiable for security, labor management and insurance claims.
Totally prefer something easy to set up.
I was thinking split the set up to 4 computers (4 x 8port PoE switches).
how is the plant growing by fractions of a mm going to affect motion?

I would still go with the hikvision cube. Its a much cleaner install, cheaper, and it has a PIR motion sensor, the audio is all built in. That area in your photos is sufficiently protected from the elements so the fact the it is an indoor cam should not be an issue. The specs show an opterating temperature range of -22 to 140f...

My suggestion camera wise would be an Axis Camera which supports their Corridor Format which allows easy rotation of the camera image perfect for long hallways as it looks like you have. This eliminates the "wasted space" that you would otherwise have with a normal camera since a majority of the image would be of the hallway walls. Here is a link to the Axis Cameras which feature the Corridor Format: http://www.axis.com/techsup/faq/index.php/index_axis.php?action=artikel&id=115405If you are not familiar with the model numbers, -VE means it is outdoor ready and vandal resistant, -V vandal resistant only, and -LVE means it is outdoor ready, vandal resistant and features an IR illuminator.
Hope this helps!
great point about "corridor" format. The hikvision DS-2CD2432F-I (W) can also do this.
I have one on order....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TH2tLzwslCc

it is the same but the swann does not have audio. The DS-2CD2732F-IS with the S at the end has an input for mic and line in...

Hi,Can i configure ip cameras to my NVR without having a router in place. The reason i am asking is that i have nearly completed an install to a new property, currently has no telephone\Broadband installed as yet.
Regards
Vic
sure...if your nvr has open Ethernet ports. You don't need to be connected to a router..
-
no router does poe. The injector is fine, but if you plan on getting more than one camera you are better off with a poe switch.http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SF1008P-100Mbps-8-Port-802-3af/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388523933&sr=8-2&keywords=poe+switch
most of the 8 port model can power 4 cameras. (only 4 ports are poe).

HelloI finally got my DS-2CD2632F-I(S). I'm a total newbe to this things. What do I have to do next?
The ethernet cable goes directly to my internet-router.
What do I make with all the unused cables (Audio/Alarm, etc) in the Rain?
Cheers
How are you powering the camera? For the easiest and cleanest install you need a poe switch. PLug the switch into your router and the camera into the switch.
As far as the cables, you have two options. if you made a hole in the wall and have room push the wires back in there. OR just an external junction box and mount the camera to it. You can always wrap the wires in coax tape for extra protection http://www.amazon.com/protects-types-cable-moisture-corrosion/dp/B0002ZPINC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1388501531&sr=1-1&keywords=coax+seal

im new to the site but ive been reading alot about IP camera's and decided i would start my own forum and go from here.my idea is to setup a deer feeder system that will toss out corn at set times during the day, and i plan to run a 200ft ethernet cord underground from the house to this feeder and construct a wooden stucture to house the wiring and the cam so most of the elements will be out from direct sunlight and rain/snow and such. i know being its outside and the distance its going to force me to use POE, so that limits my choices for camera's and being its outdoor i was assuming it should be ip66 approved , distance will only be about 15-20ft unless the camra lens needs to be adjusted farther away due to lens size but that can be tweaked with when i go to setup everything. and set this up to stream threw pc and can be remotly watched by anyone in family out of state to watch the animals feed from the feeder.
budget for the camera is under 200$
was thinking of a panasonic model but the poe is only 100ft which kinda killed that idea.
so then started looking at foscam, they seem to have steady reviews for being outdoor and poe.
im not looking for SUPER good quality just something i can watch some deer with at day or night.
any and all suggestions or tips i greatly appreciate!
also for got add, i will be running a poe injector since its just 1 cam im setting up, dont think there is a reason to run a switch just for the 1 device or am i worng there too?
Do not buy foscam...its crap. Just buy a Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I for about 175 and you are done. If you need a particular angle of view/zoom you may be better off getting the varifocal version which is about 100 more.
Also what model Panasonic were you looking at, the camera itself would not limit poe to 100 feet.

Might need to correct myself, I don't know if it has a card slot. ( Looking for the answer )It does, just make sure you use a Class 10 card!
that hik does not have a card, you need to move to the more expensive varifocal version for a card slot.
Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-I Dome or Hikvision DS-2CD2632F-I have sd card slots or acti d72 and are about 270.
If op is not using an NVR it cant hurt to have recording - good protection if someone steals your packages etc.
but the cheaper hik will do if all op wants is a live stream.

He's a 24 yr old kid that thinks he knows it all. He told our babysitter that the $2k quote was insane! He said that he had done some research and that it only should only be around $500 to $700.I'm guessing he thinks he's a pro now....
He's a moron. Have her go file a police report, get his insurance info and contact them directly, that will get him moving.

You don't need ptz to watch your car. Get a camera with a wide field of view and it should cover the entire driveway. Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I with 4mm or Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-I that is varifocal and can be set to a wider 2.8mm, plus you get sd card recording with the 2CD2732F.

press F12, under emulation change document mode to 7,8 or 9....
-
it may be set to sound an alarm if a camera is not connected or losses signal.
-
there is a reset button, look closely inside the unit on the pcb board
-
yes, you just need to reset it, its fine...I believe the reset button is requires the removal of the glass dome, its in there somewhere....

Hi AllI have 5 cameras around my home, these cameras have a power lead and a bnc connector coming of each camera.
At the moment I have them all going individually to the back of my dvr. This was a task to each lead to dvr.
So is there a unit what I can buy like a junction box idea?
So all leads goto a junction box and then I can just take one to the dvr unit?
Thanks
You can only do this with an IP system using a switch.
If you already have the wires running why do you need this?

Is there any way to watch recorded footage from a stand alone DVR unit when using a regular DVD player which is used to watch Movies on? I have a Exelon PR-824 DVR unit with a DVD-RW drive. I have archived some footage followed by burning it onto a DVD+ disk. I tried to play it with my DVD unit which I use to watch movies all the time. The DVD tries to play it but after about 10 to 15 seconds it comes up on the display as "Cannot Play"You will need to play it on a PC. You may need special viewing software or a codec depending on the file type the dvr exports...

I use this switch on small installs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122077
It has 12 PoE ports.
How is the fan noise on this unit, looking for something like this that runs quiet.
Edit : Just saw this review
Cons: ......but fan is really loud and therefore cannot be placed in a room where someone will be working. You need a server closet for this switch.funny, con came from my review.... it is loud and the person sitting in the room could not tolerate it.....I just don't get why no one makes a switch that is sized like a pc power supply with a large fan and quiet...

I've forwarded ports 80 and 0808 but when i test ports via certain sites it says ports blocked!?In my web browser i input 192.168.0.15:0808 and i have tried 192.168.0.15:80 should the ip address be the external address?
Yes the ip address must be your external address 192.168.0.15 will not work outside your network. You need to use the external address and add the :XXXX with the port number. Also, many isp will not let you use port 80 so you need to change the port on the dvr to something else....try 8686

Has anyone got any idea?Thanks
what have you done in your router to port forward?
Which ports have you forwarded?
What are you typing in to the browser to remote view?

Hello. I have pre-run cat5 (or maybe it was 6) throughout my attic area. I need good IR and weather proofed cams maybe 8-12 each (will sit under the eave) and around a 2 TB HD. (expandable for more cams) I want it accessible with iPhone and also with movement detection an email is sent with the photo. There has been a rash of home invasions in the Indianapolis area and I want to be better protected. These cams need clarity. No need of installing somethings that will only show a figure. Oh and the range of the cameras, I would say need to get out at least 50-75 feet. I was in hopes that someone could list a system here or a link. If I don't have to piece it together...well that'd be nice. Whatever it takes and I do thank you for any help. DMI was looking at something like this, but I doubt the cams are that great....

don't get that system, its analog and will not give you the clarity you want. You should be looking at an IP system that is at least 1080p...you need to provide a budget....

if you are only going to have one camera, just get a hikvision varifocal camera with an sd card.... no need for a dvr...unless you want to store lots of footage.

both have sound capability if you add a mic and speaker
these cameras are also available at Costco for 249 without audio capability.
