An ISP is going to monitor bandwidth on all ports, not just 80. You would have to max out a 1Mbps connection 24/7 to reach that bandwidth. I think the answer is to not leave the stream running all the time or you have something else running on your machine.

I was just curious what type of system you have? Can you post any more info about it?

what is the build number. I just got a new camera and it is running: V5.1.0 build 131202 Also, the FTP link does not work? What is the login?

If you go with a kit you can easily make that 2k mark. I think if you try to piece a system together you'll average closer to 2500. The benefit would be that you'll get a better system overall. For example, chosing the best camera for each location, and you'll have wider range of software choices to use. Going component route will require more research and better understanding of the tech. If you don't wan to spend the time, then probably a kit is the way to go. I'm not sure what powe supply you are looking for? A kit would come with what you need, otherwise you'll need a POE switch or POE injectors. There is an 8 port cisco switch for around 250 that looks nice. A similiar POE injector runs about $80, but then you need to add your own switch.

Can anyone throw out some good dealers/sellers they can rcommended for IP cams and NVR devices. 1) I'm looking at Hikvision and Dahua equipment right now, but still open to others. 2) Fast shipping, items in stock, good communicaiton. 3) Provides links to major firmware updates since it seems like this is a major issue with direct chinese sellers. I don't know how the firmware and/or memory hardware on these cameras are setup, but it is entirely possible that there are values in the memory programmed that cannot be changed. There are places in some flash memory called OTP bits, which stand for "one time programmable". If Hikvisionis using these areas to set the language, then there is no possibility to change the value. The only option would be to modify the firmware binary before uploading it to avoid these checks.

Right now I'm leaning towards an Intel NUC system. 7W idle, 27W fully loaded. I'm guessing it will average around the 15 to 20W mark.

I'm currious if the motion detection works. If you have some time to check I would love to hear the results.

It was in the original post, Hikvision and Dahua looks like the way to go now. I'm planning on an 4 to 6, 2MP cam setup. I'm fine getting something rebranded as long as features are not removed and the have the products I want. So in that case, I'd rather buy seperate component than a package deal.

Where do you buy this, and how much?
