  1. Thanks for the reply. The NVR only allows me to set the main resolution which in turn changes the screenshot resolution to match. There is a drop down on the screenshot resolution but it only shows the one choice which is the main resolution. The Cammy app just receives the screenshots directly from the cameras. They are setup to upload to the Cammy FTP server.
  2. I had this issue when recently setting up my system. Did you change your cameras IP to match the subnet of your computer? The NVR uses 254 as opposed to your PC which is likely 168. e.g. the cameras need to be 192.168.1.XXX
  3. Hi thanks for the help. The NVR is a Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P with V3.0.10 The cameras are all DS-2CD2332-1 with V5.2.0 I've tried looking through the NVR menus, but I can only seem to change the main resolution of the video which then changes the snapshot. Cheers Alex
  4. Hi, I'm in the process of setting up my Hikvision DS-7608NI NVR and it appears too missing the virtual host settings I need to be able to access the cameras. Under network > advanced settings it shows 'enable telnet' but it doesn't have enable 'virtual host' as shown in the manual. The NVR is using firmware V3.0.8 build 140825 Am I running the wrong firmware or is there another setting somewhere I need to select to be able to enable the virtual host? Many thanks Alex
  5. I finally got a response back from Hikvision. The DS-7608NI-E2-8P doesn't currently support virtual host. A later firmware update may fix this later apparently.
  6. Hi, I've just been looking at updating my firmware on my Hikvision DS-7608NI NVR (currently running v3.0.8 build 140825) and noticed in the change log for v3.0.9 the following; As I purchased the NVR and cameras from Hong Kong, will this stop everything from working? Cheers
  7. Thanks for all the help. After changing the IP address they are all working However I haven't yet checked the NVR and what you've mentioned. I'll be looking at this this evening. Thanks again.
  8. No I haven't, sorry misunderstood. Looking forward to getting home and trying finally to set this all up
  9. This is the problem, the SADP utility doesn't show the cameras, only the DVR

    Hi from Australia

Hi everyone, Looking forward to contributing to other people's posts once I know more This is my first house, and first CCTV setup and are looking forward to hearing advice on how to setup from the experts. Thanks in advance. Cheers
  12. Ah ok, thank you this is starting to finally become clear. I'm going to try and directly connect to the NVR via the PoE port and change my computer's IP address to be the same subnet as the cameras. e.g. 192.168.254.YYY and then change the IP addresses of the cameras to be on the same subnet as what my computer is normally on e.g. 192.168.1.XXX I'm hoping to finally nail this over the weekend, and then write a guide for all the other newbies
  13. Router: Switch: admin Hi, I've just purchased my first CCTV setup and am struggling to get it working correctly. Thanks to all the previous posts which have led me down the Hikvision path. I have a Hikvision NVR DS-7608NI 8x PoE and 4x Hikvision DS-2CD2332 turret cams alongside an Alloy PoE 24 port switch. I'm struggling to either connect directly to the camera as the camera can't be found at the default IP address If I connect the camera to the NVR I can view the footage through the NVR web app but then I can't connect to the camera locally or through my mobile apps as it doesn't detect the camera when scanning. When the camera is plugged into the NVR although I can view it through the NVR web app I can't find it in SADP. If I plug it in to my switch the IR light lights up and then turns off, the switch shows it using PoE and requesting 15.4W. But scanning doesn't discover it. I've also tried using the SADP application but that only finds the NVR and not the camera. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Cheers Alex EDIT: Router: Switch: NVR:
  14. Thanks Spark, I'll sit down and try and sort this out, I haven't tried connecting to the PoE port. I connected to the LAN port, I have zero experience with networks so this is all new to me. But I'm very grateful for your patience and help
  15. Hi and thanks for the detailed explanation. I have tried searching but obviously I'm searching for the wrong things as haven't found anything to help. The DVR was running 3.0.8 and didn't have the virtual host setting, so I upgraded to 3.0.10 and that doesn't have it either. I'll try changing my computers IP and doing what you said thank you. However what I'm also puzzled by is why I can't I also connect to the cameras once they are connected directly the switch? Is this the IP issue as well? Assume I can change their IP addresses? Cheers

What's happening in about 3 weeks?
  17. I've just upgraded the firmware to v3.0.10 and I still don't have the virtual host setting. Anyone else have this version?
  18. So I've connected the PC directly to the DVR, the camera shows in the DVR web interface the camera is on and port 8000, but I still can't access it directly through a browser. I've tried the SADP application again whilst the DVR is directly connected to the PC and it only finds the DVR. For some reason I thought all this stuff would be plug and play with today's technology
  19. Thanks will have a play when I'm home. I thought that everything would work the same with the PC connected to a switch.
  20. Hi, unfortunately my NVR is missing the enable virtual host settings, which means I can't access the cameras directly connected to the NVR. I assume this is a firmware issue as the setting is shown in the manual.
  21. Thanks Spark, I don't have enable virtual host, I do have enable Telnet. According to the manual I should have enable virtual host, assume I need to change the firmware?
  22. Thanks for your help. If I connect the camera to the NVR it shows the camera under the camera management as being on and the status as online. But I can't connect via The NVR is using V3.0.8 build 140825 I've tried using the Ezviz app and it says 'The device is not connected' after scanning the QR code on the back of the camera.

    CCTV advice for renovation

Thanks I didn't realise it was an analog camera. I've just been reading about all the IR reflection issues, definitely going to go with the turrets. Thank you. Now just need to work out the best positioning...

    CCTV advice for renovation

Hi everyone, I'd really appreciate your advice as this is my first CCTV system and I've already made a mistake Firstly I purchased a Y Cam bullet gen 2, and have since realised that this probably wasn't worth the additional cost over the Hikvision. I've been looking at ordering 4x 2132 Hikvision domes as well as the Y Cam bullet, for my house, but I'm not sure on the best approach to ensure there are no blind spots. The house is on a hill with the garage under the front of the house. I'd like a camera on the inside of the garage in case it is ever broken in to. http://yamahaclub.com/images/IMG_3596.JPG I've uploaded a quick sketch of the house above, and would really appreciate some help on what cameras to buy and lenses? Many thanks in advance. Cheers Alex

    CCTV advice for renovation

Thanks will take a look at the other camera. Our whole house as flat eaves so positioning luckily should be easy with any of them. From looking at the turret I was wondering if it's worth paying a little extra for the DS-2CE16C4P but I can't find any reviews on it.
