    AVtech ATV773W, beginner question

It sounds like an unsigned active x issue. You may have to delete temp file in the general tab, and close all browsers then open a new one, and then try to load the active x. The software is an all in one for all models of AVTech DVRs. 4 channel, 8 channel, and 16 channel When you connect you will only see a quad screen or the camera that you select.

    AVtech ATV773W, beginner question

I would suggest that you do not upgrade the firmware. The IP server is not built in to the DVR. It is a bolt on add on. The server gets the info and passes it to the DVR board, and the responce then gets received and processed, and then the changes happens on screen and is delivered back to the server. Yes it has sever lag. This was the best that they could do at the time in 2006 when it was sold. The product is bullet proof, and will work for years if you have a battery backup (UPS) with line filtration. Change the hard drive as this will cause damage when it crashes. The internal power supply cannot be swapped out. Protect the interpower supply at all costs! I do not know what java ap you speak of. Are you talking about the active x? go to tools > internet options > security tab and change the unsigned active x to prompt. Any questions? http://scorpiontheater.com/cpcamtechsupport.aspx Scroll down till you see the picture of your DVR.

Are all 6 of my camera's DEAD after storm?

Do you have a battery operated hand held monitor? They are worth their weight in gold! You can take the monitor out to the camera. If you have video then the power side is ok and your problem may be the video cable side. You can use a small TV that has the yellow composite video input (source, input, game). You can use a BNC to RCA adapter if you need. For those of you doing large barns, or long runs then I would suggest using 12volt DC / 24 volt AC cameras. Use a 24 Volt AC power supply. If the long run has a voltage drop then the camera converts the AC to DC, and as long as the voltage is above 12Volts the camera should work. I only placed this as the subject is about a pole barn, and people may be directed here from a search engine.
  4. Hello. I had a customer from 2006 call requesting to have this old DVR networked. I tried to get them to update the DVR, but that was not an option. I ran Cat5 throught the attic, and he recently order ATT DSL with ATT 2Wire installed. I punched in the default IP address in to a IE browser and was unable to connect. I was unable to ping the DVR. I being new to ATT 2Wire double checked the settings in the homepage only to find the customer forgot the password to the 2Wire. Now comes the fun part to resolve this issue! ATT (USA) 888 321 2375 Be advised that ATT now charges for Tech Support for non ATT Products (such as 3rd Party Routers, DVRs and other products). 3rd Party Tech Support 800 288 2020 (Sit down before they tell you the fee)! AVC780 Manual http://scorpiontheater.tech.officelive. ... 2_V1.1.pdf Video Server S can be found on this webpage. http://scorpiontheater.com/videoviewer.aspx The AVC 780 does not have a DHCP mode to auto fill the IP address, gateway ect. Hooking up a laptop to the DVR Cat5 is the only way to determine what IP the 2Wire is providing. In the situation I was in I could not ping the DVR. I opened the chassis and there is a button on the board that connects the DVR to the internet. I pressed this button and then the DVR worked and I could log in to the DVR through the IE browser. I typed in admin admin and was unable to log in to the DVR. I went in to the menu to System and reset the DVR to factory default. This did not work. I put a screw driver over the hardware reset pins with the power unplugged, and plugged in power and the on screen display showed the system was reset and to then powered down the unit, and then repowered the unit. This failed to reset the password to admin / admin I went in to the menu to networking and reset the network settings to default. OK, I admit I am grasping at straws but anything to get admin / admin to work! I then reset the menu System to Default and then unplugged the DVR and gave it time to completely power down before plugging the power back in. (I must not have let the unit power down long enough the prior attempts to reset). Finally! The admin / admin worked! You will need to go in to the Menu to set your settings. You will need to activate manual recording if you are using this. You will want to set the DVR to overwrite. You will need to set your IP address info in the Network section, and you will want to go in to System and click on Buzzer and press the enter button. I deactivate Motion Alarm. This will stop the constant beeping if you have outside cameras. 192.168.1.70 255.255.255.000 192.168.1.254 Port 80 (Use 80 for testing purposes and then change to a port that you wish to use later). If you are setting up Motion Detection you will want to get rid of the Pink. Pink is block, and clear is detection. For those of you setting up networking for the first time you will need to go to your computer browser and click on Tools > network options > Security Tab > Custom Level and change "download unsigned active x" to prompt. After logging in to the DVR you will need to click on the yellow bar at the top of the screen to allow the active x to run.
  5. I have power supplies for AVC 773, 774 776, 777, 785, 787 Dual Voltage 12 volts and 5 volt with the eight pin power connector. I ship USA only at this time. Limited units. First come first serve.
  6. yes you will need a preamp. You will also need to connect to the audio out to verify that you have audio before testing from a remote location. http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-MIC_microphone.html or you would use a camera that has a microphone that is built in. check you local laws as you can record video to your hearts content, and you can be arrested for a felony for recording audio depending on the situation, and the location of the microphone.
  7. I have sold the last batch, and the source no longer has these in stock. I am looking for a new source at the moment. The price was at $75 each with the last vendor.

    Accessing filesystem of DVR

I am not familiar with your dvr but I will say that you cannot. It is a proprietary software based on linux. You would actually need an emulator program.

Unable to get backup from avtech avc 791A

I am not sure what you are describing. It almost sounds like you are trying to pull video from the computer in c drive called tempvideo. This would be where the video is stored if you click on the film strip icon to record video to the pc.

    DVR040 wont detect HDD

The job of the battery is to remember the date time group. If the battery goes dead then the DVR defaults to factory setting of the date and time. Have you measured the voltage to the hard drive to see if it is powered up?

    Avtech 798A Image Flicker

You have swapped out two DVR with the same effect. I would suspect a bad power supply. I am thinking the cameras look great during the day, but at night when the IR's kick on it sucks more current then the power supply can handle or the power supply is having somekind of an issue. you can test by taking two cameras off line. Did the video clear up? Is this related to moisture such as rain? If it works fine except for rainy weather then I would check connections. If it was premade cables and you have video issues then I would check the bnc to rca adapter.
  12. Lets test your DVR with internet explorer first. This DVR uses active x and I am surprised that you can connect to the DVR with a mac browser. Most mac users have to use quicktime. Put the audio camera on input 1. Using the monitor out check the status of the audio light. It will be blue for one mode, and yellow for the other mode. Which mode is showing on your DVR? If it is set for live audio then you should here audio with remote viewer.

    AVTECH avc760z Not Working

To test your DVR you will need to get another power supply for it. Do you have a friend that has a universal power supply for a laptop? You can swap tips to match your DVR power input. If the DVR works then the external power supply is the problem. If the DVR does not work then the internal power supply will need to be repaired.

    playback issue

Are you using Video Viewer? If yes then the playback should be called VideoPlayer. You might try a Video Player from Video Server E to see if it has the missing Dlls.

ALEXX Is you DVR brand new? Can you take it back for a refund? KONSTASK Is sounds like your's is a chip failure. Does the internet connection work, or has that failed with the menu fail?
  16. Press the enter button four times and this should get you in to the menu unless someone has changed the password then you will need to enter the new password number. manual http://scorpiontheater.tech.officelive.com/Documents/AVTech_Manual_English_KPD673_672_671_670_manual_V1.1.pdf

    Video Viewer and Email attachments

This DVR sends you a notification and the link sends you back to the video. What you are asking for is a JPEG. Is this correct? Only JPEG units can send a JPEG. You will not be able to send a JPEG picture by email.

    KPD674 has 4 audio inputs AVC791 has 1 audio inputs The AVC 791 has other model numbers such as AVC791 CPD540 KPD670 KPD671 KPD672 KPD673 MR673 http://www.avtech.cc/english/products5_2_674.htm http://www.avtech.cc/english/products5_2_791a.htm
  19. The only DVR that can send a JPEG image is a JPEG DVR such as the AVC760 with the IDE hard drive. The SATA hard drive AVC760 is MPEG / MPEG and cannot send a JPEG. H.264 cannot send JPEG. There is a theory with H.264 that you can capture every 7 frame and it should have a full image within the frame. If they can create software that can catch every 7 frame and store it then it may be physically possible to send a "JPEG" image. KPD 673 Features H.264 Video Compression Technology Highly improves video quality for live, recording, and network Recording file size is minimized for longest recording time Lower bit rate required for fastest network transfer VGA Support VGA interface built-in (KPD672,KPD673) Output resolution support up to 1600 x 1200 Multiplex Allows live display, record, playback, backup and network operation at the same time Basic Remote Independent Operation Allows single-channel viewing of live displays without changing display settings on the licensed software “Video Viewer” provided Free Upgrade to Advanced Functions Allow you to upgrade DVR functions without any charges Backup Function Supports USB flash drive and network backup Remote Surveillance Supports remote surveillance up to 20 users simultaneously via the licensed software "Video Viewer", Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox web browser, and QuickTime player **** Intelligent Motion Trigger Recording Activates event recording automatically when an alarm is triggered, and sends a URL link for image download to designated e-mails / FTP address **** Customizable security settings are achieved with the advanced motion detection, the scheduled motion detection recording, and the quick search function Supports pre-alarm recording (8MB) Audio Support Supports 4 audio-in, 1 audio-out to record sounds (KPD673) General Supports multi-language OSD Supports SATA HDD (SATA interface built-in) Supports IR remote control Supports remote control and live view via Ethernet System auto recovery after power failure Supports manual / timer / motion / alarm / remote recording Supports TCP/IP, PPPoE, DHCP and DDNS network connection
  20. Note: Samsung, and Sony are 50/50 partners and own a joint factory producing lcd panels. This is why you see their names together in the new alliance. I am surprised World of Warcraft is not one of the sponsors!
  21. Actually it makes sense. http://www.valens-semi.com/technology/technology-demo.aspx They have just started placing RJ45 connections on TVs for streaming Netflix, Pandora, You Tube, and others. Netflix sends out discs to reprogram Gaming systems to stream video. 3D is bandwith intensive and this is why you see these new "higher speed" internet rollouts. HTPC would gain by only having one cable rather than three cables (audio, video, and internet and excluding keyboard mouse ect) With the names listed of the companies then it most likely is headed for production as it takes years for all of the ratification and engineering. Thanks for the link!

Camera video problems with 4 channels

I do not think anyone has schematics except for AVTech. The DVRs are at a price point where they are not worth fixing, and most times you would just go and buy another DVR if it was out of warranty. I do not think AVTech would send out the schematics to the general public unless you sign some document about sharing the schematics, and the lawyer fees would not be worth the representation unless you are a big company. You could give them an email, and try. If you have a rework station then replace the chip U34 again.

I do not think it is the monitor out circuit. I only provided the info so that you would have it.
