  1. You can decompile the Java perhaps, and create your software?
  2. If you must have the motion video then you will need the CIF. If you want the better quality video then you will have to decide if the sacrifice is worth it. You should be able to in CIF, but not Frame.

Does the GeoVision IP cam need a dongle?

LMOF! What the hell is up with this post??? PSSST! That is me popping another beer as this thread is going to get real interesting! What the hell?
  4. This is about 10MB. It will take time to download http://scorpiontheater.com/Documents/AVTech_Manual_English_AVC_760_782_V1.1.pdf It will not do 25 in frame. That is 25 divide by four channels. You will have to switch it to CIF if you want 100 images per second. 25 IPS is 12 1/2 Frames per second divided by 4 channels which is about 3 frames per second per channel. Frame is not designed for full motion. It is designed for higher quality snap shots. If you must have 25FPS in great detail then get the latest H.264 AVTech DVR. CIF will give you more motion style video. It does not have Frames per second. There is no way to view what the frames per second are. This DVR uses images per second. If you must view through the browser then you will need to use IE. Firefox does not have active x.

    Advice for a Victim.

The best solution is to buy a 12volt DVR and place it your vehicle. Install the cameras on your car. Get a router that take a cellphone air card that are used for laptops to get a wireless internet connection. Have a PC at your house record the video. If they see the equipment and steal it you still have the video. Camera for your description are probably more than you may want to spend. Once it is attached to the building the owner of the building will own those cameras. You will need to get permission from the building owner to allow you to attach cameras to the building. You are better off hiring a professional CCTV company as this is not a simple DIY project. Now is not the time to go through a learning process win 1,000s of your money is a stake.
  6. perhaps bringing up one DVR through the browser, and the other through video viewer and sizing them side by side or below and above?

    AVTECH 773M (ADV7171) data recovery

A data recovery center is to be used with hard drives with bad sectors, or with motors that have died inside of the hard drive. Data recovery centers cost several thousands of dollars. Is the video this important? You can try this: http://www.piriform.com/recuva It probably will not work as the files are not in a PC format. It may be able to find them and identify them, but it will not be readable. Murder cases will require sending the hard drive to AVTech for prosecution in the court system.
  8. I have never worked with the 796. Running throught the tabs on video viewer I would have thought that would allow you to view all 16. Sounds like it is a variable of a 9 screen times two. The video Server E will only work with IDE version DVRs Video Viewer was made for the SATA version DVRs and was created for (at the time) the upcoming H.264 DVRS. This is a viewer that can connect to H.264, Sata Version and IDE version DVRs. The Video Viewer was made backwards compatable. The Video Server E cannot connect to future developed products (from it's time of inception).
  9. If the voltage is the same you should be good to go. MS621FE Battery 2.1mm x 6.8mm (height x diameter) 3 volt Capacity is 5.5 mAh
  10. I have kept the website ad free, and Google Adsense free. The present economy is not going to let that go on for much longer. My biggest problem is time. Time I do not have. My biggest problem is being up in a hot sweaty attic working for a customer, and getting phone calls for AVTech support. I do not mind helping people. I can answer questions for about 5 minutes, but not more than that. I cannot have a customer whose installation took an hour longer because I was on the phone for an hour. One of the problems today is the cell phone issues. My customers do not set up cellphone remote view, and I miss out on all of this info. I can only repost what others have found. I would like to get an account with ATT, Verizon, Sprint, RIM, and others. What would the monthly bill be for those cell phone bills?? In the old days when I just "sat" behind a desk I could take calls all day long. I guess some of the other countrys did not realize that I was on Eastern time! LOL! I have a lot of broken links that need to be cleaned up as companies have changed their websites, and I have not kept up. The website only has about 75% of the PDFs up. That is a real shame! I need to do a better job! I wish I had the time to sit down with the parts PDFs, and create schematics. I would love to buy Camtasia and create some "how to" videos. The website could be much better! I should invest in all of the various fans, hard drives, dual voltage and 19 volt power supplys, internal power supply board, and more. I would like to create a parts cart for the website. I would like to set up a tech support dept to allow people to ship their DVRs for repairs. With any changes that I make I wanted have you all on board. I want to make it the best site I can. Too free me up out of the field I may have to start advertising, and fee based support and hire someone to do the installs in my place. AVTech has taken down all of the MPEG DVRs off of their site. http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/cctv.aspx?Type=3&Type2=2 Now it is all H.264. The demand for information on the older model DVRs is going to increase as these DVRs end up being resold on EBAY, Craigs List, and the Classified Ads. Everyone is going to be looking for manuals and such. Spare parts are going to be needed also. What do you all think?
  11. Hello everyone. I am in need of closing down some pages, and rearranging existing pages. My fear is that it will tear up some bookmarks or it will cause tech and DIY to have to search for items that are displayed on Search Engines, but not shown on the page as the search engine has identified. I am looking for feedback. Shall I keep the pages the same, and remove the links and make it an email to receive the pdfs. The alternative is to shut the website down. What is your feedback?

Avtech 791 keeps cleaning hdd on boot

I do not know if you are a "end user", or if you are a dealer. The difference is having some experience, tools, and hard drives on hand. I would take the hard drive out. I would take another hard drive that is brand new and never installed in to a computer. Take it straight out of the package, and install it in the DVR. I am only guessing. There may be some bad sectors on the hard drive or this may have been a hard drive that had been connected to a PC. This is only a guess. I would find the behaviour odd. ________________________________________________ Check to see if the time is correct. When it reboots does the time go to a factory default time? This may be the kind of DVR that formats the hard drive when the time is changed. It does this because if you change the time on the DVR it can no longer find the video footage that you are looking for. I am only stabbing at the dark! Check the time issue first then change the hard drive. The hard drive may have a power problem causing the DVR to format. This is a second reason to pull the hard drive. What do you think?

AVC760 power supply help for noob (from NZ)

I was in the process of hand drawing my own schematic then the economy fell, and had to let people go and got "kicked off my desk" doing "nothing" all day. I will get back to it someday i hope! I did start this for the IDE AVC 760 http://scorpiontheater.com/avtparts.aspx I got has far as the part's PDFs, and that was as far as I got!

AVC760 power supply help for noob (from NZ)

I take it you tested the external power supply with another one? Note: you can go to a computer store and by a universal power supply for laptops and find the tip that matches. I would remove the power to the hard drive first and test it to see if it powers up. These notes are a waste for madmanzippy as he a technician and would know to check all of those. I only put the notes in because others come here from search engines. For the cost of repairing the internal power supply it may not be worth it. You will need to buy 100 power supplys to get the price down to make it worth while. When you can find them do not be surprised if they are in the $100.00 price range. (American)

Easiest way to unspool RG59 cable

Are you old enough to work with the old 35mm film and have to catch the projector before it ate the film, or are you young and just popped in DVDs?

Easiest way to unspool RG59 cable

You can talk to electricians, and the cable company, and the cable company subcontractors to see if they will keep the reels or spools for you. You can probably dumpster dive also. As for anything around 50 feet I think the hand wind would be best. I would not want to put it on too small of a spool as the windings would be too small and making the cable curly for the customer. For large runs you can make a pair of horizontal bars to place a spool on each and pull the wire to the other spool. Go to the giant hardware store and see their set up and how they count off the feet.
