  1. Hey , Sorry for the editing of your picture with my great MSpaint skills but here goes. I'd say one or two ptz's in these chosen locations would be better than your said location due to the fact that you won't catch much ground level just like everyone said. I think one of the below would be best in my opinion... Maybe 2 ptz's because you can get 2 for under $3,000 with a controller. Check these out... Thanks, John

How are cameras from CCTV imports?

That plugs a huge problem with that model. A good camera we move a lot of is the CPH4000 which takes your typical ccd 1/3inch lens (lens sold separate). Or if you like Yoko cameras pickup a 210Z4 (awesome camera) and it has a 3.9-85.8mm lens on it and has audio already. But either of those are my recommendations. Thanks, John

How are cameras from CCTV imports?

The 230hrl isn't bad but keep in mind it plugs into a wall socket, not always easy to find one of those around. Have you looked at any other models we carry? Thanks, John

    Help with HDD in DVR

Yep yep! The computer does not like the file format that the dvr puts on the hdd as a partition, which is why it's asking you to format. Why is it you are trying to watch them on your pc? Does your dvr not do playback?

Need camera for a dark open area

Yah, the KT&C Model camera I've only seen that one as 420LOR and .003 lux, plus the fact that it's B/W is why he's getting a great picture I think. But that does not explain to me how you have no IR's but yet are getting a very good picture that looks as if it's getting some sort of an IR feed. Overall great picture and that cameras lens is interchangeable also so I would look at a higher mm lens so you can get the angle you need and simply purchase another one of that camera. Thanks, John

    Monitors CRT vs LCD

Your customers do the same thing as ours, sucks don't it? I haven't ran into any great LCD monitors as they are liquid crystal vs the tube / crt that are in the much larger monitors. If you do find a very high quality flat panel point me in their direction as well so we can demo one and possibly start buying them as well! Best ones I've seen (haven't bought yet) would be http://tinyurl.com/58vfls they are from the company Jinsong but I'm talking to another company that will be sending me specs on their monitors tomorrow which are supposed to be upwards of 600+tvl and 1080P capable resolution on their LCD's.

    CCTV file formats

Different file formats that video is exported to or the files that the unit actually write to the drive when it records? Dvr's typically record in a .mov , .avi , .divx , and .mpg file formats as the backup footage that the units export. Now when it comes to the recording that the units usually record to the drive directly it's proprietary file formats that I've always seen, meaning you're not able to take the hdd out place it into a computer and it show you a bunch of movie files. Your questions a little vague but I answered best I could, let me know a little more specifically what you're looking to know if you can please. Thanks, John

Info on 9622 Panasonic Color CCD

Hello, Good choice but as far as for better options (at the same price) would be the 2001CIH or the CBI661. Either of those give a better picture in my opinion and can be had for the same price as the unit you're looking at. If you give that company a call tell them you spoke to me on the forums and that you would like it at that price and I'm sure you'll get it! (I got a little pull) If you have any other questions possibly concerning that company please let me know and I would love to help you. Thanks, John

ATI vs NVIDIA for GV800 or GV1120

I've always bought Nvidia cards every since I bought a 9600 from ATI and it failed within 6 months. Nvidia is "larger" (in my opinion) and they seem to have a firmer grasp on the market and which way it is headed. Me? Nvidia fan. Thanks, John

Is this the World's most stupid Thief ?

Very clear?.... *facepalm* It looks okay but the coloring there just makes me want to send them a free demo camera! Argh!!! Sorry, I had to.

    Alien in my driveway?

I love when they say that specks of dust illuminated by IR light are "orbs". And then they say they can't be dust becuase they 'change direction'... Yep, they call them "air currents". Wait... You mean that $500 dollar "ghost hunting" kit I bought isn't going to help me find my long lost relatives? I thought for sure that picture they showed in the auction of the orb by the tree looked just like cousin Bobby! Damnit!!!, I wonder if I can get my money back....

    10 camera DVR

You could use a switcher or you could get a quad. A quad will display all 4 pictures in smaller boxes tho so you won't have large pictures of them like your other cameras currently do. Or like he said, get a separate 4channel dvr.

    Alien in my driveway?

We have these housings on the outside of our building... I'll see if I can catch some spaceships flying through the air or possibly some "other beings" running around while we're not here. Who knows? Maybe the chairs put themselves on the desks over the weekend?!?
  19. Plenum isn't cheap, I'd say just get some Coax with 18/2 (Siamese) and you should be good to go for those runs since they are short. Just remember to steer clear of the power runs in the building since not everyone likes lines scrolling in their video.
  20. "Contact your internet provider this is not a problem with our hardware." (sorry I had to say it scorp) Have you double checked the ip that you're using for the outside world to make sure it's correct? (www.whatismyip.com) Also make sure since it's going through your computer that the internal windows firewall has the dvr cards programs as an exception in the windows firewall management system. Thanks, John
  21. Have you checked that camera and seen if it's possibly the light from the street lamp that is messing with your cameras viewing capability? Try a different angle with the camera and see if the problem is resolved in my opinion. That's the first thing I'd try.

    Camara in a coolroom

So true! I opened the back of a couple of the ones we use and put an extra pack in some of them just to be safe. Playing it safe the first time means no going to look at the camera in the future. Thanks, John

    Pinhole vs actual lens question

Ebay is hit/miss when it comes to buying cameras. Also CMOS is a bad idea so try to stay away from it if you can help it. If I were you I'd look at some of the companies out there and see what type of "systems" they have to offer first. Varifocal + IR is definitely a good choice as if your needs change or you feel a camera would be better used in another location you can always move it and adjust the cameras lens accordingly. Thanks, John

    DVR Rack Mountable

Not Hidden Visions.... it's a dvr that CCTV Imports carries. Warranty generally comes with it of a standard 1yr. Upgrading it is a possibility to up to 3yrs. All of the units are bare (no hdds) but make sure you tell the sales rep what you are looking for just to ensure that they do not make a mistake when selling you the products. Thanks, John
