Need to broadcast over building tv's

OK now I think I know what you are referring to without saying it. A very "controlled" environment.

Need to broadcast over building tv's

Yes, but you will need a modulator for every channel that could be possibly tuned to in the building thus a mini headend. Would not be very cost effective. I still think inserting on one channel and letting all the residents know what channel that content is on would work. So it's not a must see event. Just informational?? So if it's only "basic" service then consider inserting on an unused channel but if you do that insure that the TV's in the building are capable of tuning to that channel. What's the highest channel on the system now?? If there is no digital in the building, pick a channel a few up from the highest and insert there. That way you will not have to worry about adjacent channel issues.

I understand what you are trying to do but again, if your cable provider offers Telephone service and you cut away from the CATV system then you are inturrupting a life line service not to mention Internet service to the residents and or any management services depending on that connectivity to the outside world. Also, you say you want this content to display on every TV on any channel. That can not be done without building a mini headend and inserting that content on ALL the channels. Assuming very basic service coming into the building, no digital or telephony, this can be done but all the TV's in the building will need to be tuned a specific channel in order to watch your content. What type of complex is this?? Not trying to be an alarmist. Just trying to disclose the potential issues. Sounds like a great idea in an effort to inform everyone but easier said than done I'm afraid.

Need to broadcast over building tv's

Hi and welcome to the forum. Having a tremendous amount of Cable TV experience I know exactly what you need to do however I need additional Information... How many cameras/channels are you looking to insert?? Many many variables to deal with… Does your cable company provide digital channels?? Most do. The reason I ask is typically a cable company will insert these digital channels in a certain frequency range. You will need to determine this. Notch out that frequency range and you will have more problems. Let's assume one channel insertion... In a nutshell, you will need to first find an open 6Mhz slot to insert your channel. Let's further assume channel 78. Purchase a notch filter to filter out that 6Mhz channel coming in from the cable company ( 547.250 - 553.250 ). Purchase a modulator with the same frequency as the open channel - channel 78. If there is a cable channel on either side of the channel, you will need to buy a quality notch filter. If you don’t, you run the risk of filtering out adjacent channels. All the above is assuming the incoming cable line is not “Hard Lineâ€
  5. I stand corrected with TOMCCTV's comment as I thought he was referring to the Intellicam DVR. Sorry TOMCCTV. I am very quick to defend that product. Have been using Intellicam's products for many years, solid performance, Have never let me down. There are many many DVR"S on the market most of which are an excellent product as well. We have chosen to stick with a DVR that is flexiable to meet our Local customer's demands. Also, by only offering a single platform, we know the product inside and out. We look forward to your participation on this forum. Once again, welcome. Thanks Mike
  6. Hi and welcome to the forum... I can say without hesitation that the package you are looking at should not be considered cheap by any stetch of the imagination. I do not work for Worldeyecam but I am extremely familiar with that product. It is the only DVR we sell and install in our local market. The DVR is H.264 and yes the recording resolution is CIF but one channel can be configured to record in D1 at a full 30fps ( on the 4 and 8 channel and 2 on the 16 channel DVR ) not to mention Hi-definition output. That DVR package will most certainly meet your needs. You will not be disappointed in either the DVR or cameras. Good luck with your search.

    Hikvision 8016HFI-S to PC Questions

What I was trying to say is as long as the PC IP address is the same gateway address as the DVR it should work. Not sure if that's the correct term to use though. Some local networks are 10.1.10.1, others 192.168.1.1. As long as the first 3 sets of numbers are the same between both devices and something different for the last set it should work. PC 192.168.1.100 DVR 192.168.1.102 Sorry about that. A little hard to explain.

    Hikvision 8016HFI-S to PC Questions

Using a crossover ethernet cable connected to the DVR and PC you should be able to connect as long as the PC's IP address is the "same" as the DVR. For example PC 192.168.1.100 DVR 192.168.1.102 No question a router in between will work and I am pretty sure a hub will work as well with regular cat5 cables. Insure the HTTP port in the DVR is set to 80, type in the DVR's IP address and it should connect. Active X will need to be enabled as well. If you use a router there is no need to forward the ports as long as you try to connect on the local network. I hope this has helped. Thanks Mike

    Local and remote viewing question

Our JS Series DVR will allow for the configuration of viewing certain cameras depending upon permissions. It will also allow you to lock out any views on an attached TV/monitor as well as Network viewing. Simply create a user, check or uncheck specific views, save. If you have locked out that user not to be able to view cameras 1, 2, and 3, they will not be able to view those cams no matter how they are logged in. Also, you can disable the playback feature on any or all as well. A user logged in as admin or any other user name you define and apply full admin permissions, this person will have full access. All of the JS series DVR's have this feature even our economy JS RT4. I wish I could comment on the Avtech DVR but I do not have any experience with them.

    INTELLICAM G4-8LTA? Discontinued?

Thanks Blake! Intellicam no longer carries that DVR. They now offer the JS Series DVR. We have experience with both platforms and favor the JS line for many reasons. Warranty, features, just to name a few. That site is obviously not current. I'm sure that DVR is still available somewhere but I'd bet, not at that price.

Cat5e Underground - EMT Lightening Rod

That's a great question Lightning either direct or an ambient strike can be a real problem obviously. We have experienced near strikes to damage cams on a fully protected system. Short of installing a lightning rod on top of the pole, I am not sure there is really anything you can do. Is this a telephone or electric pole or privately owned with no utilities. I personally would not do such a thing on any pole. We have had losses but the customers insurance company has covered them ( less the deductable ). In our proposals we disclaim that sort of damage and make it clear that any failure due to lightning is not covered under warranty. We have gone as far as to review footage ( when possible ), download and save for the insurance company if they question the loss. The only thing I can advise is to protect the system the best you can, surge protector on the network, cams and power. If the question is asked, you have at least made an effort to protect the system from damage. I look forward to other comments as I am all ears when it comes to this subject. Thanks Mike

    Hello Everyone

Hi and welcome to the forum...
  14. I am very familiar with this DVR... Which Client Software version are you running? V4.01MD?? If so, I can send you a few screen shots that may help you. Thanks Mike

1 camera in 3 shows black screen

Hi and welcome to the forum... It really sounds like the power supply is the issue. So I understand... They all work off this power supply inside but once you connect them to your Siamese outside, they do not work?? Have you measured the voltage directly out of the supply insuring it is 24VAC and comparing it to the measurement at the cam ( with the cam connected )? 100' distance should not be an issue at all.
  16. Hmmmm, silver?? How far out do they extend?? Anything other than black will create IR back wash. Without us actually seeing an image from the cam, it's difficult to say for sure. Good luck with your effort. Mike
  17. I'm curious... I just googled that cam. Does the cam giving you problems have the "hood" on it?? And the others don't by chance?? When I first saw this cam the first thing I thought of was the IR would reflect off of that hood washing out the image. If the hood is painted black underneath than my point above is not the issue. You may just have a bad camera.

    BNC to VGA Cable

Do you have a TV or monitor that has a video input?? If so, you can run a line from the cam to that TV and see the angle of view. Pre-made cables are very reasonable. A whole bunch less that the converter you mentioned. Again, the cable I would send will only work on a TV or monitor that has a video input ( ususally RCA ). Thanks Mike

    hikvision 7016his firmware

At least these settings were the defaults of those DVR's we installed... DVR IP 192.168.1.150 Gateway 192.168.1.1 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Port 8000 Http Port 80 I tried to attach a snap shot of the network config but I have reached my maximum upload quota.

    hikvision 7016his firmware

I am not to sure what you mean by the DVR is now formatted?? I am familiar with your model DVR although have never attempted connecting by phone. You should be able to flash the DVR again with the same firmware. If I understand you, you may have to do this at the DVR proper and not over your network. Do you have a monitor connected to the DVR? If so, log in and re-flash from there. Hope this has helped. Mike

Problem with Picture on 16 camera install

Thanks for the IP info. I have logged on and I do see what you are talking about. Somewhat hard to see on remote view but I can only imagine what is must look like full screen locally. As Soundy points out, it does look like a ground loop problem. None of the cameras are installed on metal?? Even touching the drop ceiling metal will cause this. I see it on cams 3, 11, 14 and 16. Even an offending camera causing the loop issue may not show the problem but will manifest itself in another camera. Try to disconnect one cam at a time from the DVR and PS and see if it minimizes or goes away. You may have several problem cams. Also I see that 5 cams are installed on stucco. Is it possible there is metal behind the stucco and your screws are touching that?? At least tonight, we know which cams are causing, showing the problem. See if by disconnecting one cam at a time ( not 3, 11, 14 or 16 ) and see if they clear. I am in agreement with Soundy. Ground loop issue it is. Especially in a commercial property as that is, anything could be happening with the buildings ground potential. Is there only one electric service feeding the building or several. If so this will cause a ground potential problem. I have given you my cell number in my PM reply. Again, more than happy to talk with you in an effort to make this right. Really, give me a call if you think that will help. Thanks Mike
  22. Hi and welcome to the forum... I suspect that the cam just does not have enough IR's. I am familiar with this cam and it deploys 24 IR's. With a combination of the "lack" of sensitivity settings and the possible angle of view of the cam, the image will appear noisy and thus trigger motion. Generally I have seen a camera that is not getting enough voltage/amp tend to first sacrifice the IR. The specs I see on the camera call for a 500mA power supply but going to a 1 amp will not hurt it though. Try pointing the cam at something closer so that the IR reflects back into the lens. By doing so it should become less noisy. If it does, you know it's your angle of view/ cam. This is not to say the cam is defective. It just suggests the combination of things ( lack of sensitivity adjustment on the DVR, not enough IR to illuminate the desired area ) causing the DVR to think there is motion. I hope this has helped Mike

Problem with Picture on 16 camera install

Please PM the IP address and log in info. I'll see if I recognize the interference. Also, include your phone number and maybe we can bang heads on this if you want. Let's take a step back... All cams look OK at the camera?? Right?? If so, cams are "OK" Take the DVR out of the loop and disconnect all power leads from the PS. Hook up monitor to each BNC, one at a time and apply power to that cam only. Is there any interferance? If there is, then try powering the cam at the cam location. Is the interference still there? If not then coax is good but there is an issue with your 18/2 or power supply???? It is very possible that there is a high EMF in the chase beating into the 18/2. I have never run into this but anything is possible. The coax should shield this unless there is an issue with the coax or connectors. Identify those problem runs and go from there. You may have to power the cams on each floor. All depends on what you find. I think it is extremely important to separate each component on the system, find where it is good and then introduce other cams, DVR and PS, etc. Also, not knowing the dynamics of the property, can you turn off circuits and see if it clears. Probably not I would assume.

    Advice choosing new CCTV system/s

Huh, very interesting. What's even more interesting is that the office demo is no longer up. I logged into the private home demo and although the trees are moving the frame rate remains constant. ?????? I actually do like the interface though.
