same here, system used to run fine on a 1480 with 8.2.

Now running 1240 and 8.31 with GV-IP cam's and analog: not stable anymore ....

no idea what it is, already had a blue windows screen.

they are working on a proper iphone viewer.

what mainboard ar you using and chipset on it ?

If incompatible it will be unstable.

Card: original GV card ?

these systems almost never stop !

we are running/testing GV on win 2003 for 2 years now (8.2, 8.3 and 8.31).

Runs fine. But on HP proliant servers.

Only issue is support for good graphics card ...... win2003 does not support good cards (not needed in a server) and slots are PCI-X (not PCI-E). So only PCI cards run if you have the driver.

This means you need a lot of extra CPU from the main processors to run ....

Xeon does not affect GC at all.

Memory: you can add more, but it's also faster !

We tested it for building NVR systems: faster and more CPU's, much faster I/O, redudancy, use of fibre, etc .....

If we can solve the graphics card issue it would be a great plaform.

Don't know if you know a lot about win2003 (it's a lot different then XP !!!) but you can run applications in XP compatibility mode.

Also don't know the Dell hardware, maybe these chipsets are not compatible with GV.

it's released your supplier should be able to get you the software. It's for download on EZcctv

8.31 is released (we installed and tested it, solves a lot).

BTW The Geovison IP cam is not bad at all, it has only 1.3 Mp (very good colors) AND is extremely good at night (low lux and very IR sensitive). You just need a bit of IR and you get very good images at night. I can not get the same with an Arecont ....

solved in 8.31

version 8.31 did solve some of it. I now have a higher frame rate. At lower resolution it's ok. But still freezes sometimes.

The arecont is an Auto-iris version. Apperntly the non auto iris works (but would test first) !

On the NVR I maybe get 1 fps.

If I logon to the Arecont (from the same machine) I get the 21 FPS......

To make sure I connected on the same network connection a GV-IP cam,: PERFECT

Or I am missing something in the setup.

Question:

- If i logon to the Arecont with the application manager I can change settings and save to flash.

- If I then logon to the arecont via explorer it sets the setting back.

Need some help.

don't want to be too negative, but guys it's a free service ! (that's probably why they do not spend too much time and money on it). It's great for testing and if a customer wants to use it, fine. Just explain it's free and not guaranteed.

You want someting stable, use a commercial solutions, they host their services in datacenters on a backbone ... and do work 99,99% of the time.

apperently the problem occurs when you connect to two CV2-systems. With one it's stable.

They still have not figured out what the problem is at GV.

Already did a complete OS install upgrade the memory, nothing helps.

System keeps restarting and looses CV2 connection.

GV is unable to reproduce the problem, if somebody has 8.3 (vista) and could just try to connect to two CV2-systems.......and keep it running (should happen witin hours).

This system has 10 cams (1480 PCI-X) and one 3 mp cam (but with 10 analog cam's the problems are the same).

p.s. system used to run 8.2 (same setup): did run perfect

since they can access the machine ..... what is the point (they can just sabotage it anyway).

Locking it:

- use geo-desktop

- pc and GV software in auto start mode

If they can not access the machine: easy->just the screen (no keyboard mouse), if correctly installed it will always restart.

Runing as a service: I would try win 2003, thats build for running services and does not need all of the hardware to run (can run and sartup without keyboard and mouse ...) and can start services without a need to first logon.

They showed it last year at Ifsec, still no date (spoke to them). I believe they are going to miss this one because everybody is getting H264 video encdores (axis has a very small one). Can we get some feedback to convince them (or not) to speed up the development.

Problem is known for a while (year or so ...)

upgrades are always "problematic" with GeoVision ......

Backup setting with FBR.

- uninstall the software

- remove the drivers

- Uninstall (control panel) all other GeoVision software

- Clean the Geovision directory (if you can not delete some files ...stop CC service first)

restart ....

- install new version

- restore setting

- inport video files (if needed) with repairlog

answers are all in the installation guide (not the user guide), on the cd as well

did you do a complete uninstall ..... this means manually removing files because the GV-uninstall leaves a lot of old files on the system.

Geovision has lets say a poor track-record with upgrading. Just trying to fixed an upgrade on one system from 8.2 to 8.3 .....

I assume bandwith is sufficient (5Mp use a lot !)

Did you check if the camera setting (resolution, frame rate are still ok).

Otherwise check with support at Geovison.

or if someone has a 8.3 DVR test-system, they could connect to my Center V2. This way I can see if it happens with other systems as well.

try to uninstall the 8.2 drivers.

Then rinstall them.

reboot

activate all 16 cam's in geovison (it's a setting ...)

Already working with Geovison on this, just want to know if I am the only one:

- DVR (8.3) connected to CV2 (8.3)

- system gets instable: lost feeds to CV2 and multiple restarts on the DVR

Same CV2 has NVR (8.3) connected: no problems and other 8.2 DVR's with no problems.

Any input of similar setups would be helpfull to find a solution.

Using Control Center, AV3100 with latest firmware.

Login as administrator.

I can view and login via explorer.

Remote viewing enabled in Arecont software.

No other conncetion to the camera.

Ports: 10000 and 80

Still unable to get a feed in control center: unable to connect.

Have not yet tried DVR or NVR but assume results would be the same since the drivers are the same.
