  1. in the end i'm not to impressed with these cameras... especially in my situation... where there is some extreme lighting conditions.. an older vivotek 1.3mp looks better to me
  2. picture still not the greatest but getting better... i adjusted it through the av100 software. I'll try and focus it a little further away. But the picture just looks very soft.. not as sharp as i want it. And not as bright as the vivotek. I'll keep tweaking. Below is a remote capture through avermedia software.. so it's small in size
  3. Here are 2 more pics taken of the 5100 Arecont and the 1.3mp vivotek I was playing with the settings of the arecont i turned up the brightness.. the old vivotek looks good... and i can't find a good setting for the Arecont.
  4. Camera isn't crazy impressive.... i'm prob going to change it's position to a place with less backlighting.. here is an older vivotek 7138 1.3 MP and a shot of the Arecont. (i'm kinda surprised at how little you can adjust the camera compared to Acti or vivotek. Yes i still need to play with settings and there is a Pentax lens on it.. may need to play with that more too.. Any recommended settings with what you see? there are only a few things i can change.
  5. Final Answer - My windows 7 with all firewalls off and AV of... still blocked it somehow. I put it on another network with winXP and the AV100 software found it right away. WTF waist of 1.5 days of my life
  6. New Jersey baby!! today was a perfect day for it.... i'm a little further south so no to many fist pumping steroid eating new yorkers. (yes further up north it's FULL of them what you see on MTV is actually very real) i don't have a POE injector i have it connected to a power supply. And i'll just wait to hear from them tomorrow. Also when i click on "scan" it only takes like 2 seconds to return "no camera found"
  7. Set up an isolated network then. Just a laptop/pc, a switch, the poe and the camera. Oh... there's a thought. The camera is plugged into a PoE port or injector directly with no other devices in between? Again just something else to check. just tried this... same thing... doesn't see it.. i'll just wait till monday see what they say.. firewall completely down, both laptop and camera plugged directly into home linksys router... maybee i'll try at different location later on tonight.. OFF TO THE BEACH!!!
  8. i don't see any reset holes... i don't think you can do that on these cameras... I really think if there is a hard coded ip... lets say 10.1.10.1 and my ip is regular linksys 192.168.1.1 there is no way it'll see it unless i guess the ip address range.. i don't think it's set up as dhcp to grab any address. worse case they should let me know tomorrow
  9. it looks like the program only searches local network addresses (and yes it's plugged directly into my local network) ... all the additional ones you see are from my VMWare's machines. firewall is completely down and i've added arecont programs to accepted list.. and there is NO AntiVirus running now. A factory reset button with paperclip is looking like a good idea at this point lol
  10. firewall completely off.. av100 still finds nothing. i'll try and make a patch cable... but even then to see the camera wouldn't i have to be able to guess the ip range? or should it automagically see it?
  11. it's connected to my local network... My guess it's hard coded a different ip / subnet .. He said hell contact his netowrking guy on monday.. I'll try the crossover cable tomorrow... Gotta make one. and the av software won't see it
  12. that link almost helped... i downloaded and installed the Arecont AV100 software and it still doesn't find it (looks like it only searches local network) i go into my router and look for all connected devices and don't see anything either... It looks like the camera may be hard coded to a different ip/subnet.. i just spoke with the person that i got it from... he'll ask his tech guy and get back to me
  13. got any good screen shots? how is it in low light?
  14. Hey guys my friend saw my IP cameras that i had up and was amazed at the quality they are used in good lighting conditions and just some Acti Cubes... He now wants to start switching out his cheap domes one by one to megapix, He has a divis dvr card in there and they say they support megapix cameras but haven't tried yet. Sp question of the day is... whats a good megapix cam for bar? the place is like a Fridays/Applebees/longhorn and low light around bar. Any ideas/field samples?
  15. I'll see if i can grab a current snapshot of the first camera he wants to convert... and we'll take it from there
  16. lol thanks i'm actually looking at one on ebay right now... the 1/2" sensor is a nice touch.
  17. Thanks for reply.. his current cameras just aren't good ones at all.... i think they are 480tvl basic small domes... thats why when he saw mine he had to rub his eyes to the clarity... i told him ip/low light is hard to come by but thats why i'm asking around for some free info..
  18. OK how about a recommendation that is limited to what brands i can use... i have dealer accounts with dwg and northernvideo and the Areconts are a little to high in price start almost at $700. So any Acti cameras you can reccomend? or Axis? Any ideas on my limited set of brands? and around/under 500 each?

  20. what axis ones do you recommend? because the installer says axis, axis mega. I've put in an email to their support on what exactly is supported.
  21. looks like i'm limited to Axis, Acti, Arecont, HUNT, Cellinx, Truen, Pixord, Cynix at least thats what the divis dvr card plugin says. I'm also limited to DWG and Northern Video as those are where i have made business accounts with. Anyone else i should use? $1000 per camera is to much anything in the $500 or under? with the brands mentioned above?

Can Avermedia Overlay network thermal POS printer?

yea thats what i'm looking into now... i'm doing searches on "printer pooling" as it's an option in windows... this would be HUGE if i can get it to work. I also just posted a question to avermedia's help site.

Can Avermedia Overlay network thermal POS printer?

The port number magically just pops in there And the IP settings are there but i cut them off the image by mistake... 10.1.10.120 255.255.255.255 and 10.1.10.1 for router dns

Can Avermedia Overlay network thermal POS printer?

The reason i ask is because in the avermedia software in the POS section i see an input for an IP address... Is there a way to get the epson ethernet print server to send to that also? Attached is the Avermedia pos screenshot... and attached is the Epson "print server" setup... when i type in IP of the printer this is the screen i see to set them up... i'm trying to figure out what an "ip trap" is.
