  1. I have a Panasonic WJ-HD316 (non-A) DVR to be installed soon, and was wondering if the FIELD quality is good enough? I want the best quality possible with the most frames possible. When I change the settings to FRAME, I only get 30ips total for all cams to use. When I choose FIELD, I get 60ips available. I am going to try to use only 4 cams if possible. Any vid/pic examples?
  2. Are these DVR's obsolete now? Not hooked up yet, but just wondering if I should save and get something else. Right now I have all Panasonic cameras (484 domes/fixed, 934 fixed, a 864A PTZ, and a 854B PTZ). I will prob end up using the 484's though. I also have a WJ-HD220 Pano DVR, and not sure what to use it for. I like its simplicity.
  3. yall haven't heard my Panasonic WJ-HD316 DVR with its 28 jet fans inside
  4. Yep, that works... directly at the cam. It can also be done remotely from the DVR/PC (which is very convenient), but you usually need a Panasonic DVR, or a Panasonic Data MUX (MP204C) inline using the PS-DATA protocol.
  5. Were you able to access the cam setup menu using that DVR? 'up-the-coax'?
  6. So Panasonic stuff is not from Japan?
  7. Curious, how do I waterproof this gap between the cam and mounting bracket? Also, why the small vertical slots all around?? Unless I missed something, there was nothing in the docs re this. Thx.
  8. That means water, bugs n crap will get inside, all over the wires, and into the hole/conduit, etc. b/c there is enough of a gap all around for that. The only thing I see in the top portion waterproof wise is some rubber around the BNC/pwr wires going into the cam, a possible o-style gasket, and some kind of rubber o-ring seals on the 3 x torx security screws. I was planning on using silicone sealant all over, until I noticed the large gap. Just seems odd to me b/c I forsee potential leaks and frying the cam.
  9. Anyone use these two cams? Just wondering how much better the CL924A is. Tx

    Panasonic WV-CP484 vs WV-CL924A

Thanks. I already have one CL924A... just need to get a lens for it. My home system is still not up yet though. I also have a few 484's, but was curious how much better the 924A was. the lighting is very low around here at present. Even the lenses for the CL924A are expensive. I am looking for a WV-LZ80/2, but they seem more expensive than a CP484 cam. EDIT: I meant I have the WV-CL934 already... not the older WV-CL924A. I mixed them up.

    Panasonic WV-CP484

Those pics above look fine on my screen. I have a WV-CL934 that can't wait to try out, just need a lens for it.

    Panasonic WV-CP484

    little off?
  13. Is it a VGA output? IIRC, CRT's are always going to have a better image using the VGA connector.
  14. At present I have a few 19" Viewsonic PC LCD's. I am wondering if it would be worth it to get a 640x480 Panasonic LCD instead for example. DVR is a Panasonic WJ-HD316 at present, and the VGA output seems clearer (on the OSD menus at least) than BNC or even S-Video. Would the Panasonic LCD @ 640x480 (I am assuming that is their resolution) be clearer than the Viewsonic b/c of the lower native res? tx
  15. Even if the Viewsonic's native res is say 1280 x 1024? I always thought the picture might be not as clear when you downsize the res to the DVR.

    Panasonic WV-CL934

Any recommendations for a good lens (don't need a big zoom one) for this cam? I have one on the way to keep my WV-CW484 and WV-CP484 cam company whenever I can find a place to mount them at the house. Also, does anyone have an pics or clips from any of these cams? I remember always wanting the older WV-CL924, and am wondering just how low in lighting they can go. Thx.
  17. Anyone else have this prob? It is occasional and completely random. Sessions/cookies working fine on the server?
  18. I personally have Rebecca Peters from IANSA on speed dial. She is anti-gun, but she comes to the rescue within seconds with her magic cape when I call her.
  19. Anyone use the AVerDiGi EB1304NET SATA? Pros/Cons? Does it have the same metal case and remote control as the regular 1304 NET? Noisy fans? I am considering downgrading from a Panasonic WJ-HD316, which is a pretty big downgrade. The main reason is concealability. I can hide the Aver DVR behind something, and run a USB extension (if backups needed that way) and prob still use the remote control from a distance. I would then have a cheap basic CCTV type VCR in plain view, and anyone that broke in might assume the VCR is recording, and take the tape instead.
  20. I would recommend an AverMedia AVerDiGi EB1304 NET DVR. Not sure on cameras, but I would stay away from the lower end Q-See stuff. That and a nice 12GA just in case.
  21. I know. How dare they try to steal his crack w/o permission. And in Kanada, the homeowner would have been charged per this footage.
  22. When I seen the story, it was on CNN w/ Lou Dobb's. He was talking to a cop in the area. Although the cop (perhaps the Chief) stated the 'victim' was known to Police, he was very clear that the homeowner/victim in this case was defending himself, and no charges would be laid.
  23. Seen it on the news recently. The home owner apparently was known to Police for drugs.
