What make/model is the VGA extender? Is it a combo KVM Switch as well?

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on an equivalent cam in quality such as the Panasonic one below... but cheaper. Would this work then with the GV800 setup... Have the Panasonic cam(s) connect into a Panasonic WJ-MP204 Data Multiplexer (Rear Pic)... then use the Panasonic WV-CU360C Controller with PS-DATA (Panasonic Security Data Link)? I am still not certain how this 'PS-DATA' is achieved from the camera as there is only 1 RG59 output cable. Perhaps there is another, or the output video from the cam is bi-directional as well?

I might consider adding a 2nd dedicated quad monitor in my room as well, instead of switching back and forth via the KVM switch. In that case, I guess I will have to look at amplifiers for sure. Thx.

There is something about GeoVision that does not quite 'do it' for me. We have a GV-800 purchased from the dealer in Kingston, ON. I don't know... perhaps it is the software that looks kind of cheap to me. We also have had a jerky motion recording issue from day one, but it is tolerable. The server has locked up a few times as well, but to be expected I guess with Windoze. SCSI drives would be nice of course. The other consideration at the time of purchasing a DVR card for the office was Video Insight. Perhaps we would have had more luck with them. The software does look more user friendly to me. One thing that bugs me is typos in software and bad English instructions. It is enough to turn me off and go somewhere else. I am getting more picky as time goes by.

Yes, the OSD. Currently, I only have the Video Output connected on this cam. Is that the only cable required to program through the DVR? I thought it was just a one-way video output signal only? On the back of the cam is another BNC connector that says GEN-LOCK or similar. The OSD menu buttons are on the side of the cam.

Yes, but if you want to use 6.1.1 software, you need to ship your card in and have some chip upgraded... unless you have a newer card. It is done for free (with the dealer we used anyway), but we are unwilling to have no CCTV surveillance for a any length of time.

The menu can be accessed with only the the Video Output connected? I assumed the GEN-LOCK one had to be connected as well. PM sent with email, thx.

Because the installer did not know what he was doing it seems. Had to go out several times to get it setup half-ass. What type of DVR and cams do you have that you can program them fro the server? Yes, they can be 'pre-programmed' before mounting them, it is just much easier to do it from the console. Also, I want the option to connect a PTZ cam in the future.

No. It is not exactly safe going out on the roof where this cam is located. And a few others will be non-accessible (ladder required) anyway once they are added. Plus... I do not want to use a portable LCD.
