Welcome to California! Oh, wait. Wildfires in May so I thought you were talking California...

Pretty scary stuff. That must have been a spot fire huh? I'm guessing if it was the front line your brother-in-law would have been packing instead of filming... Or was that your sister filming?

My brother in law's wife.

They had to evacuate.

So the first thing he loads up is the boat to the truck!!

I just got a call and they have a lot of damage around the house but theirs did survive. They just now drove up on it.

The one side of the house is scorched, and the window on that side have cracked from the heat.

The electric is still out, and their water is pumped from a well so they may not stay the night.

I bet it smells like a good southern BBQ restaurant there!

A few other houses have not made it.

I just got a call from reverse 911, and the Police Dept is calling on behalf of the Fire Dept. They are begging everyone to turn off their sprinklers, and control water usage as the Fire Dept requires the water.

Too many fire trucks must be dropping water pressure via the hydrants?

Here is area number one that is bad:

This is where the schools are that they talk about in the news. Look down, and to the right of the pointer in the open area.

The fire is to our south, and we are fine, and good to go so far. If the wind comes from the south then there might be in issue with floating sparks.

These fires were set by an arsonist, or a group of people. We are fine, but then again if the arsonist lights one in our area then we could have issues as well.

We are over 70 to 75 house burnt down at this point.

Not to make light (groan) of the situation, but it is amazing how video crews can take a simple little flame "scene", and make it look like a raging inferno from one coast of Florida to the other coast.

Then again I see video that is not "alarming" on national news, and I know this area very well, and I am thinking "Oh my goodness" as it is worse then what a chopper can show.

Years ago, one of the Engineers I worked with, designed a system on his newly built home, in which he installed sprinklers on his roof. These sprinklers would operate from his new large swimming pool. There was a manual valve inline, which would divert the pool water, from the suction side of the pump, to the sprinklers , when needed. I saw him test the system, and it worked pretty good. One of the smarter Electrical Engineers I have ever worked with.

Do not forget a generator as they turn off power during fires so that dropped wires to not spark another blaze, and so the Fire Dept can work in saftey.

Electrified house with streaming water is not too good of an idea!

I thought this guy was pretty ingenious. In fact, the local Fire Captain who lived in the same housing tract as us, had this Electrical Engineer design the system for the Fire Captains' house also. Everyone had pools, but not too many smart ways to get the water from the 50,000 gallon pool to your roof when embers from a local fire are on it. Do you know anyone who can pump their pool water to put out a fire? The year was 1987, and this Engineer was, and still is, the only person I know of, who has done this.

HAH! you should see the ones over in Cocoa. Just because palm bay is BFE area and has 100% more woods is the only reason it's getting more coverage.

Lets talk about the Power Plant that was 20 mins away from blowing up and becoming a part of the fire here in cocoa. Course thats not news because the firefighters saved the Power Plant.

No! You are absolutly right!!!

The firefighters thought they would finally get some down time today, and get to relax (compared to the hustle, and bustle of running from house to house, and flare up, to flare upl

I think a lot of people in Cocoa who kind of "blew off the fires in Palm Bay"

have now see the flames, and seen the smoke, and the little alarm in the back of your head starts SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF IT'S LUNG!

The local Fire Fighters cannot take anymore. They have been getting relief from the Miami, Jacksonville, and the Tampa Fire Depts!

Even the News crews realize where the "story" is. They were pulling up stakes as fast as they could to get to Cocoa.

Question is: where is the next tinder box going to ignite?

The woods here in Palm Bay will actually benefit from the fire for many reasons. The normal "Mother Nature Spring Cleaning", and there have been some sever issues of all of the fallen trees from the hurricanes from a few years back.
