IR Outdoor Camera

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I was given an outdoor IR Camera, no brand name unfortunately.

My problem is this.

It's a hardwired camera, meaning no plug in connectors at the camera end, and the cable out of the camera is only about a metre long and no plugs on this end either. (looks like someone just cut it to remove it)

I've stripped back a section of the outer insulation, to find it has one shielded cable and one Red colored cable - I'm presuming this is the positive side power. But what is the negative? Can I use the shield stranded cable as a negative return for power by soldering a loop wire over from it, then soldering on video BNC and power plug.

Thanks in advance.
