Cannot open and view .DVR fies.

My DVR records in MPEG4 compression. It runs on embedded Linux. The files are "supposed" to be Windows cpmpatible.............NOT! Where can I find a program to enable me to open and view the files in Win XP Pro? I would also like to be able to convert the files to .AVI and other formats.

You might be missing the codec to view the file. I suggest trying VLC to see if it plays it first.

My AVTech 761 creates .DVR files. I use the AVTech VideoPlayer to view and convert them.

Thanks guys, but none of the above opened my .DVR files so far. The .DVR files generated by the recorder are SUPPOSED to be win. compatible.

Try using your NetPlayer or Your CMS player that came with the DVR to open those files. That should play it. The *.DVR format seems like a proprietary format.

Thanks all! I just located a viewer on line. It opens &converts. I do not know why my DVR software did not have viewer software. It just had network software that would not open a file that was on a USB drive.
